The Elder Scrolls Discussions on Mortals and their feats

The Elder Scrolls low tiers, or at least like not insane instant win gods, have been overlooked and undervalued for far too long. And with the other discussions threads being dedicated to fixing the cosmology with the new changes to the tiering system in general. I think it’s a good idea to make a thread for the little guys to have their own spot.

Magic Abilities (For People not super special):

I think the first guys I’ll like to focus on, on my end, is the humble mud crab who years ago was specifically denied a profile by staff. I think it’s best they get a second shot for a few reasons:
They are an iconic creature in the elder scrolls both in and out of game. They are talked about and appear commonly throughout all the games and I imagine if anyone knows anything about the elder scrolls they would also be able to tell you what a mud crab is.
They have the best 9-B feat so far with rats, having dug human sized holes in the ground in morrowind with rats.
They have a supporting feat in Skyrim with digging into the ground.
Other wildlife in their tier have 9-B feats
Literally everyone scales to them. Even kids in Skyrim can catch these guys as pets and the pet version does the 9-B supporting feat of quickly burrowing into stone to sit. People use them as an insult or weakness throughout Morrowind, oblivion, and Skyrim so throughout multiple decades and countries they are universally considered a pest people can deal with.
This lines up with generic soldiers in legends art having 9-B feats.

Slaughterfish are consistently treated as some of the most dangerous wildlife in both Oblivion and Skyrim since they're stated to be able to easily slaughter people. Also Skyrim's wolves are on crack since one particularly large pack of them was able to successfully kill a mammoth and fight the giant guarding it for awhile before you even show up.

That lines up with daggerfall slaughterfish and their name. Slaughterfish used to be like this. Creepy buggers 😭

Where is the giant section found at?

Honestly I just realized I have literally never encountered a single slaughterfish in my entire years of playing oblivion. To the point I had to just now look up to even know they were in oblivion and Morrowind. They look like a jack and Dexter fish in Morrowind

That thing always drops dreugh remains meaning it ate one. The circle of life in the elder scrolls is indeed insane.
You wanna talk about the circle of life? How about the giant fossilized mudcrab in Skyrim that you have to fight the ghost of? Imagine calculating that thing burrowing through rock like the smaller ones.

I’m just imagining like a super cool and famous character getting stomped by a freaking ghost mud crab now. The crab from the good King Kong game is getting its revenge.

HA! Funny.

On a slightly different note how do we handle creation club content since it is technically just officially licensed mods for the game? I ask because there's a pet mudcrab you can buy from Calcemo that wears Dwarven armor and can still burrow through the ground and stuff with it on.

Ah, I’m curious then is this one canon, it seems to be from the fishing quest added

They added another one? I haven't actually done the fishing quest line so I wasn't aware of that. I was referring to the one from the Kyne's Spirit Animal gauntlet thing.

I think that’s actually a different species, but it does control mudcrabs and has them attack ships. I checked, interesting to see another crab species

I’ve asked like a dozen times and have never gotten an answer. It is officially licensed though

If they are considered official canon content enough then holy hell TLD and the Sole Survivor from Fallout 4 need a lot of updates. 😭

I just found out Faendal of all people has hunted a troll before, crazy (6:39). We used to not have people scale to rats, random small town hunters can murder a troll for sport.

Continuing down the line of magic users, here is every mention I could find of normal mortal's or weaker characters creating pocket realms in oblivion.

Desolation’s End
A small pocket realm of Oblivion created in 2E 582 by a member of the Bloodthorn Cult named Lord Velian.
Source
Sadal’s Prison
A pocket realm createdd by the Chimer to imprison Sadal, one of the Brothers of Strife.
Source
Gaiar Alata
A plane of Oblivion created by Mankar Camoran using the Mysterium Xarxes.
Source
Arum-Khal’s Realm
A realm created by Arum-Khal, a Khajiit lich It's a realm where only dark spirits could thrive, look's like it might even contain stars.

There are a few other ensamples of lesser daedra creating there own realms as well.
