Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

The game itself is just really volatile, I wouldn’t be surprised if this same issue arose in the future. It might be best to just compile all the speed sim stuff into a blog to link and make it easier to remove if the need arises.

The hell, why din't he just say that he's not a lore manager, and can't confirm that if the game is canon or not
The lore manager already said it wasn't canon and gave the reasons why it wasn't canon. People just chose to ignore him.

Ian did also express it not being canon, to his knowledge. But, they don't seem to speak japanese so some people choose to pretend it doesn't exist I think.

It wouldn't surprise me if SEGA isn't clear with communication, or if they're giving mixed messages.
What Chris had told is that there's an effort for works to at least be "on-brand" (Like, characters not acting out-of-characters) while still not being "canon".

So to him, SpeedSim is a work that is "on-brand" (So it needs to follow the rules of canon), but isn't "canon" (That is, it's not part of the official timeline).

The truth is just that canon is a made-up concept with no absolute definition and everyone has a slightly different interpretation of it, but most higher ups don't really care because it's really not that important in the grand scheme of things, so they have no reason to actually address their definition of canon to the overall audience, in the end each staff member is also free to have their own interpretation, which can also create inconsistencies because they aren't talking 1:1 (That is, they aren't really talking about the same thing, but are unaware of that because they use the same terminology).

Oh he actually just posted that speed sim being non canon is a head canon

(also put a screenshot to show that he's not involved outside of moderating the discord)

rn am thinking of the mind os spongebob going into a panic, with it being just sonic fans losing their minds for what is canon or not.

I'd certainly trust a writer of a project on information about that project, far more than I would a boss who has less involvement, personally. Can't say I ever wake up and go "thank god for Haruki Satomi", for example. I will always care for the individual, and not for the suit that doesn't.

Good thing Toyoda, Kishimoto and Iizuka are both, huh?

Thanks for the birthday wishes bros. Now, I must return to my SLUMBER until my senses tingle once more...

{On Bowser vs Eggman} For transparency's sake, I originally didn't plan to ask about this mainly because it's been awhile since the episode aired and because sometimes leaving behind an old topic is for the best, especially with it being divisive here. However the episode has stuck with me more than I expected or wanted it to and so I'm considering writing a proper critique of it to put on the internet. Although before doing that I want to understand how you all view the episode in hindsight and to evaluate if my own perspective on the episode is flawed before I commit to that endeavour. So to anyone who is willing to engage with this topic: what are your current thoughts, feelings and opinions on Bowser vs Eggman?

The production values are top notch, the analyses are amazingly edited and have some good coverage of the characters, and Metal Sonic/Bowser’s troops have a sufficient amount of aura and presence. The episode just feels very heavily weighted towards Bowser in both the animation and conclusion. Prolly like an 8-8.5/10 for me.

Was in a convo on Discord regarding if Mario could use the chaos emeralds and it got me thinking:

What characters do you think could (or want them to) attain a super state outside the Sonic franchise?

Hm, I guess an easy one may be Megatron or Starscream. Starscream would need them to claim his TRUE leadership of the Decepticons. Then Megatron would use them to go Golden.

Super is interesting. I like seeing designs that aren't just yellow and erected limbs like Sonic and Silver though.

I don't have an interesting answer though, sorry to say.
