Reishi means spiritual particles. Oxygen is comprised of particles. Oxygen comprised of spirit particles, like everything in spiritual worlds, and is thus a form of reishi. Just like the buildings in Seireitei have reishi wood, etc.

Edit: if I had to guess it’s something like this: 6-B durability via blocking Chad’s punch -> durability ~ AP is generally the case in Bleach unless we have reason to believe otherwise -> thus his AP is 6-B. But that isn’t clearly explained in his AP, so that’s why I say ask Deceived.

I mean garganta quite literally has nothing to produce oxygen. Saying they breath spiritual oxygen is just super random assumption and there's no statement to indicate that either. May be their breathing process is different.
We see shunsui, lillie being fine underwater as well.

Funnily enough breathing is mentioned during the scene in the manga but not in the anime. So yeah since anime takes precedence the effects are purely due to Kenpachi's body being boiled due to being in the vacuum of space.

Souls in Bleach are for the most part humans but made of reishi. Humans for the most part are souls but made of Kishi. Souls have 95% the same functions besides soul chain, soul sleep and reiatsu vents through its not explicitly stated humans don’t have those either. The other superhuman stuff all comes from knowing how to manipulate reiryoku, not physiological differences

If we take loteral meaning of ectoplasm, it still doesn’t say a damn thing about spiritual oxygen.
If we take fictional contextual meaning which means "substance emitted from spiritual entities" still doesn’t have anything to deal with oxygen.

What thing would a being who has lugs, and uses those lugs to breathe a particular substance that allows them to continue on living, be called? It cannot be this hard for you to understand that it would be Air...
Like, it's the reason why characters throughout the series, when they're tired, start breathing in and out to replenish themselves.
It's the reason why particular techniques even work in the first place, like fire-based abilities.
Hell, it's even directly stated to exist in Zangetsu's spiritual world.
Are you genuinely going to hold the position that Reishi constitutes literal atoms and sub-atomic particles like Sunlight or Electricity, but for some arbitrary reason, it wouldn't constitute one of the most prominent and important molecule for continued survival on planet Earth?

First of all, I never claimed they didn’t have any respiratory system or don't need to breath, when it's explicitly stated multiple times they need to breath. It's just I am against the idea that spiritual oxygen exists (may you can use that for better explanation to non bleach reader at most). Since I do think they breath I am gonna ignore these bs idea of yoirs about fire manipulation and other abilities since these are irrelevant.
If you are going to accept it constitutes one of the most prominent substance needed for survival , you have to accept the most prominent ways of production of the same substant, which in turns debunks your claim. You are talking about double standard while showing it in the same comment is just hilarious.
It never amazes me when people try to interpret things a way to fit their agendas while ignoring common sense and use the word wank to hide that fact. But it does amaze me when someone complain about double standards and other stuffs, but show it on their own lines.
