No, I disagreed with it then. I thought it would have completely cheapened that aspect of Shadow. I just hope Shadow actually gets to use his Uninhibited Power sometime in the future without the contrivance. I just hate when Shadow does something cool/tries to use his signature thing, and then it flops for some reason or another. I get WHY they did it, but it still felt sucky. Now people are just going to call this a "Vegeta moment".

I hope it's 1 or 2. Don't want it to be a whole "Oh, Darkseid can use Chaos Control even better than Shadow" or that he's just outright immune to its effects. I still hope it's only cuz he has a Chaos Emerald or due to the effects of the engine. I dunno, don't want it to be a whole "Everyone basically has Chaos Control"-ism that we had before.

I was saying that sequentially. As in, 1, 2, AND 3, all at once, were true. Not a specific "option," thought that is my fault for formatting it that way. To be more clear, Darkseid claims he learned of Chaos Control, came to Sonic's world for that power, and learned how to use it. Hence him ignoring Shadow's use of the ability.

Did Origins retcon Sonic being unable to do the Super Peel-Out and the Spin-Dash during the events of Sonic 1? If so then RIP FTL+ Classic Sonic 1

Sure, but it doesn't not make it an asspull. Especially since it would mean he pulled it out immediately without any buildup or on-screen showings. I get that Darkseid is "Strong Villain™", but I think giving him a handout like this feel rather wrong. I don't care WHO he is, just doesn't feel good in a story. Even then, this incarnation of Darkseid implies that this is the strongest thing he has ever seen, so him immediately mastering "the strongest thing he's ever seen" sounds like a load of ass. Hell, we don't even know if this is canon or not aside from what Ian's said, but I always take what he says with a grain of salt, so I'm just waiting for more word/the end of the comic.

Either way, just doesn't sit right with me. That's just how I feel, really.

It is, but there is no place to put it (there is a link to the Sonic timeline blog, and it explains the problems of putting it before or after)
What I am saying is that although it is questionable to put it after, it is impossible to put it before.
Thanks to Origins however, it is also impossible to put it between Sonic 2 and 3 & Knuckles (because the Death egg from Sonic 2 literally falls on Angel Island, and immediately starts the events of Sonic 3&K)
In my opinion, the Sonic 2 Game Gear should go in some point after the events of the Genesis games

In summary:
  • We know that immediately after Sonic 1, the emeralds go to Sonic 2's island and reunite with the 7th.
  • We know that Tails and Sonic meet and immediately begin the events of Sonic 3 & K.
  • We know that Sonic 3 & K begins immediately after Sonic 2 (so the position we currently give it is simply impossible).
Also, considering that at the time there were six emeralds on a single island (Sonic 1), I don't see the problem with only six emeralds being on one island again. If Tails sends a letter to Sonic, it means they've already met.

I don't agree with Sonic 2 8-bit being non-canon, but I do have something to say about our timeline placement.

The Sonic Jam Guidebook places Sonic Blast after Sonic Chaos.

Just in case, I'm not saying it's not canon, I'm just saying that at best it should come after all the Origins games since there's no place to put it directly before or directly after Sonic 2.

Hey, Classic Sonic's Sonic 2 power growth statement in the profile has no translation linked to it. But I think I know where I can find translations for at least a few of them.

What do you guys think of this video? For me I think they have a somewhat poor understanding of canon and they misinterpreted afew things but otherwise I really enjoyed this and I'm quite impressed that this was their very first attempt at making a vs video.
