But wouldn't their Dimensional Coordinates still be a specific universe within Sonic's multiverse? They could otherwise be confused and just accidentally go to a different universe instead. That's how I read it.

I think issue 1 clarifies that their multiverses are different ones? I think it's Cyborg and Wonder Woman that mention it.

Wasn’t Darkseid gonna stabilise or control the machine (or something along those lines) before being stopped by Superman and Wonder Woman? Would he then scale to it, or nah since it supposedly killed that version of him?

I really like the way the Chaos Emeralds are being depicted in DC x Sonic. Nothing about power-levels or anything like that, I just really like the depiction of the Emeralds as being alive, chaotic and without proper sense (Which is what makes Chaos Control a good name for a technique that is trying to take control over a force that shouldn't be controlled).
I said it before, but one of my favorite parts of early Sonic lore is the Chaos Emeralds being the origin of life itself, and even though not much as done with this type of lore, some of my favorite stories deal with how Chaos Emeralds are tied to the heart and emotions, it's why I found The End as the antithesis of the Chaos Emeralds as a very interesting theme in Sonic Frontiers. So seeing the Chaos Emeralds being depicted is truly amazing, this is how I want them to be depicted.

Surely, but it was in the context of answering a question of "Is it canon?" And he answered that question twice the same way, so I would say the intent by saying that is a very clear "They aren't canon, it's its own thing, just have fun with it"
Which he also implies by saying this is "The DC x Sonic version of DC characters" instead of some version from the established DC multiverse, it's just a one-off story having fun with two universes as its own thing, which is not unusual in comic crossovers.

I felt the games already sprinkled enough in the franchise to be true regardless (and most blatantly in the Rush series), but I agree that this crossover cements the idea that the Emeralds have a will of their own.

I mean, with 2 issues in Batman kinda implies Darkseid could use the Chaos Emeralds to reach the Anti-Life equation.

I kinda think It was rushed? Like, the universe getting nuked already with only 2 issues is crazy.
Besides Sonic and Flash, the others duos really don't have much of interactions or cool dynamics.
Darkseid aura farming as awesome tbh, Darkseid Is indeed.

To be fair, I think we only have 5 issues to work with, and the main pitch is “The Sonic Cast replaced the JL,” so it makes sense that the premise would be rushed.

I thought the same. Honestly, I felt like the Darkseid aurafarming is fine? I dunno, just seemed a bit lame. That and it feeds the DC fan trolls that will just keep dunking on the Sonic fans. That whole Chaos Control scene felt odd and weird to me. Just largely confused on all of it.

Looking back, Ian's always pretty straight up on "is this canon" questions. This, for example. If he isn't sure, he'll say so, too. So "self-contained" wouldn't make sense as an answer to something's canon, when he always responds with "yes", "no", or "can't answer" to those questions.
In terms of issue 2, I liked it. I was worried about the crossover's pacing though, as only 5 to 6 issues is really short even for one franchise, let alone two. It is definitely fun, but I do wish it could be slower.

I'm just wondering whether or not the thing with Darkseid and the Chaos Control thing is because he has an Emerald, he somehow learned Chaos Control, or he just became/is immune to it. I'm hoping it's the former cuz the other two I don't really like.

I think the implication is he's highly resistant if not outright immune tbh, mainly because Darkseid doesn't say Chaos Control aloud nor exhibit anything to show a counter usage of the technique. Granted one doesn't HAVE to say it, as we know, but I think a writer like Flynn would make it more obvious (blatant badassism seems to be more his style).
I don't particularly mind Darkseid being able to withstand Chaos Control, personally, but that's mainly because I already expect a Big Bad such as Darkseid to be treated as nigh-unstoppable in the story regardless. I do get the displeasure, though. Makes a pretty big trump card seem like chump change

Honestly, I can understand why it gets difficult to include Shadow in certain stories. They have to write around certain things for certain things to happen. Like, I feel like this is easily fixable, though. I don't think making Darkseid outright immune/resist feels like the way. I get the reason why it could be like this, but it just cheapens moments where Shadow is in because the main thing he's known for (cuz we know that they aren't gonna make Shadow do many speed things to lift Sonic and Flash up) consistently either doesn't work or he can't use it. It sucks cuz the one time Shadow gets to do something cool, with a BADASS panel by the way, and it doesn't even work.
I feel like the easiest way to fix something like this would have been to just have it so that having a Chaos Emerald can give one a bit of resistance against Chaos Control without outright negating its effects. At least in this instance. I know that it isn't easy to implement Shadow in certain stories. Honestly, it feels like even in the Year of Shadow, they've had to constantly write around him. They've had to do that for a long time, too.
