Nah you're fine dude lol. There's less tension and more a slight dip into animosity, mostly stemming from what people say in servers when they think there isn't anybody to notice. Sonic unironically might be one of the most hated-on verses of the site due to either where we place them or what hax we give them. It gets a bit annoying hearing the same gossip from the same people.

Though being one of the people who thinks Bowser can win and that Eggman doesn't just 'lmao stomp' him, it does feel pretty staggering alternatively-.

Tbh I don't think anybody here takes the stats for Sonic as law (ironically, I feel it happens most with outsiders), I believe Bowser does indeed have the methods to crack the Eggman. We KNEW it was gonna be a close battle and most of us even thought Bowser would win. It was just HOW he won that made it distasteful.

On a higher note, I feel like it's been months since I've seen you in here. I hope you're doing well and that this passionate discourse doesn't shy you away lol. You should drop by more often!

I still remember the strange old days being a beginning outsider normie who just took VS Battles stuff as law and was confused as of a result. Then I realized I didn't have to simply agree with VS Battles and could make my own conclusions.

The Sonic Blackpill is the unfortunate realization that Sonic has, and probably always will have this stigma against it.

Which like yeah, the series isn't really for everyone. But it's also rough to put up with those who have the stigma. I'm glad it's not as bad as it was back then at least, even if it'll always be around in some form or another.

Wow, didn't think I'd have been remembered. I've been doing well enough, learning how to tamper with making sandboxes and am working on revamping an rpg verse.. maybe another but that one's in the maybe for me right now. I'll definitely take up dropping by more though.

I gotcha, feel like that's been the case usually with some I've seen as well (in the knowing it was close but how he won being a bit distasteful portion I mean). Though really, you guys have been doing some pretty major good to make it go up in others eyes in terms of vs stuff (feel like it's definitely contributed a bit for all that new and fun metal sonic support), so don't go letting all that gossip get to you too much.

I know I (and a friend) made avid cheers seeing the perfect chaos outlier finally get turned over and Sonic being Tier 2 in base was in.

For the entire team? No, I would say Moro (the animator) was one of the ones who is a shining example of what a Sonic fan in DB really looks like. And thank God, without him the animation would've been a Bowser glazingfest filled with even MORE spite for the Sonic franchise.

In terms of research? Yes. I have no idea who the **** researched Sonic, but it felt like he just nodded along with whatever Ultraguy claimed would affect Eggman. Which is crazy, because they're fine with coming to the site and taking our calcs (Shadow vs Ryuko being the most prominent example).

I kinda feel like Eggman didn’t even do much on his own battle tbh. His Death Egg Robot got ****** up, Sage activated the Death Egg, Metal hard carried and Infinite certainly was apart of the battle

It wasn't put in sadly due to when the script was written, and them not updating to include it. So at best it was relegated to an alternate ending and an analysis mention.

That’s another problem I have. They say the matchup is close and either can win but then explain how Eggman gets brutally shit stomped by everything. Every alt ending Eggman loses

Yeah, they didn't handle it very well when they could've just owned up to it being a genuine mistake on their behalf. It would've been easier to forgive that way.

The DB would've been 10x better with more Eggman is all I can say. The Neo aura farming was great but he shouldn't have been stealing the show AND getting all the highlights.

I assume Lightman happened after they wrapped up research, if so I would've preferred a cornerbox saying something like "This episode's research was completed before December 2023, meaning there wasn't time to include Lightman" or something. But instead, they say he'd need to gather the energy, despite then also giving him Wisp-empowered devices, the Sol Emeralds, and giving Bowser the Pure Hearts and already charged Dream Stone. It doesn't make sense to me, really.

Ahhhh, so you're finally getting into the thick of it, huh? Awesome! I would definitely taking a look at some of the Sonic pages in case you need help with the more difficult coding (Emerl, Item Box, The Titans, and the Verse Page itself are ones I would recommend). Our coding is super diverse, I'm constantly trying to find better ways to format shit.

Sonic as a franchise kind of has been dealt with bad hand reception wise. 06 being bad allowed the massive shift of Sonic not being good to fester hard. People really just hated a lot of thing about 2000s games, characters and their voices, even retroactively games were bad now. I remember how Solo Sonic was heralded as a good thing. I do wonder if early 90s western media affected the reception of what Sonic was more than one thinks. Either way, this led to 2010s irony Meta Era and well, I guess Sonic didnt die at least. And somehow fan reception recently is significantly better now...

...Which makes the fact that Sonic fans have been a bit too uppity lately. Not that much, but I cant quite say some fans aren't being obnoxious. But like, Sonic fans feel more defensive now because they absolutely were treated harshly. Damned either way.

But again, the state of Sonic at least feels fine. Some franchises just kinda are miserable, like Halo has been doing bad and Mega Man barely got even a revival. Could be worse.

Mega Man was able to (If only briefly) stand shoulder to shoulder with Mario, Sonic, Crash and other gaming icons now he's at serious risk at becoming Easter egg/reference fodder for other (Active) Capcom IPs such as Monster Hunter, RE, SF and DMC just like Darkstalkers. Keep in mind Mega Man 11 came out seven years ago with very positive feedback and 2+ million copies sold globally, what happened? (Getting ports/collections of older games not too long ago is decent but not enough proof an IP is in good shape).

It hurts tbh but Mega Man Legends 3 became a meme for a reason, at least Master Chief will get some shine from Death Battle (Albeit, being likely fed to Doom Slayer).

I mean we've pretty much accepted the goalposts gets moved based on personal bias and perception of a MU ages ago, there's no static standard for Death Battle.

A good example is Neo going super with the 7 Chaos Emeralds in the episode yet in the source material he needed the Master Emerald but ofc animation =/= simulation. The DB team is willing to make leaps in logic not just ones that are against the "script" and we've just got to accept it: the good (Spawn pulling an upset against Ghost Rider), the bad (The clear Sonic hate that poisons the well within the DB community) and the ugly (Sundisk).

The first Mario game to be $80 being a Mario Kart game instead of something like Odyssey 2 is wild.
