Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

This preview is gonna make some fans of either side act funny, I can already tell.

I do still hope the speedsters aren't just the "only move fast, do no damage" types in this crossover. I wanna see them do some cool stuff and piece up even the greats.
Hopefully the initial speedster jobbery will be kept to a minimum. Seeing Sonic successfully dodge the Omega Beams is hype incarnate, though.

Same here. I get that they gotta job for the main villain in the beginning, I just hope it doesn't just become a "Superman saves the day" thing or "Speedsters can't do anything" thing. Or hell, Ian Flynn could also pull a "Shadow gets overconfident and jobs" moment if he ever pulls up just to perpetuate the Ian-Shadow Cycle...

Would LOVE to see Knuckles absolutely ROCK Darkseid's sh*t for breaking his Emerald. The bastard.

I wonder how things are changing at Sonic Team, although since the first major change took years to really give fruits (We are mostly getting to stuff right now), maybe we'll only know how things are much later

Blaze: The Beast and the Harlot (Avenged Sevenfold). Blaze is the Harlot, Iblis is the Beast after all.
Solaris, Mephiles & Iblis (World on fire by Less Friction), take it or leave it

Gotta admitt it, this was rather fun. Suprised by the lack of new "Angel of Darkness" amvs with Doom Wing & the Black Moon

She's a dwelling place for demons.
She is a demon-god after all

Dang, he got moves

If Blaze is the Harlot then is Silver... Zacky Vengeance right here? Ah well, emo Silver with red eyeliner sounds raw though.

I was thinking The Vengeful One by Disturbed could go good with Doom Wing and The Black Moon. The song's base tone is fitting, and on the surface is about a vengeful being, which, y'know, fits Shadow on a superficial level. But on a deeper level it fulfills the very overt Christian imagery that Shadow is typically paired with, and the song itself is actually within warning, ("Look inside and see what you're becoming," is repeated because becoming this vengenance-filled monster is NOT the destiny they, the singer, seeks or Shadow should desire, and instead he should look within to the promise he made to Maria and move on. Then in the boss fight, Shadow does move on, and eventually leaves Maria and Gerald there. But Black Doom CAN'T, and thus dies in battle against Shadow, not able to overcome the hate inside himself. Killed by the hands of his Dark Messiah, as foretold by the song.) Plus, the foe that the singer is culling basically are describing word for word The Black Arms, so it's a song that resonates on a metaphorical and literal level.

Cuz people often equate any lore stuff to Ian. I honestly don't read too much into the team structure of the lore people, so I'm just in the dark on that.
Ian was a writer that is a member of what is called the "SEGA of America lore team", which is basically a lot of people who work at Sonic and they would discuss lore and other stuff about developing Sonic's world, but even in that Chris was "his boss" hierarchy-wise.

People often talked more about Ian because he has a podcast where for the last decade, he used to answer Sonic questions, but he doesn't do that anymore. But since he still is a writer that goes around a lot not just in comics, but also the games and animated shorts, people still talk about him a lot (Especially since he writes a lot, it's easy to pick his tropes, so haters will just talk about that non-stop).

But since the start of the year, there was some moving in the roles, Evan Stanley became the Lead artist for SEGA of America's Sonic Lore Team and Chris became the Lore Manager, so who knows if Ian has a more definitive role at Sega, or he is just a happy freelancer that constantly gets to work on the same franchise.

I always presumed he was the last bit. He’s consistently described himself as a freelancer on the Bumblekast, even after his lore team inclusion. He’s never changed his stance on this, ever. So my assumption is that he’s a freelancer who is consistently called upon thanks to his extensive history and successful stories (initially in Archie, but eventually proved himself again in IDW). Sure, he’s one that has gained a more prominent role by having his stories now involved in game canon and acting as a means to fill in blanks for Sonic Team (such as Frontiers), but he’s still a freelancer all the same. He’s just one who constantly gets work with the Blue Blur because he’s just good at his job, reliable/on call, and is a fan of Sonic.

Ian didn't get a job because he doesn't want to move away from where he lives, that's all. That's why he's still a freelancer.

Are Super States actually weak to siphoning tech or do you think most instances are just tied to rings/game mechanics?

-Toxomister can double your ring loss in Lava Reef (doubtful)
-True Area 53 Shrimp in Advance 2 can drain your rings (maybe)
-The Chaos Energy Cannon can extract the emeralds (Legit?)
-Ancient tech can knock you out (IDK)

It's likely all just inconsistent. Hell, I even have my doubts about the Master Emerald, the Biolizard uses Chaos Control two seconds after Knuckles recites Tikal's Prayer, The Phantom Ruby ripping the Emeralds out of Sonic in Mania was a one-time anomaly considering it never happens again, even with Light-Man. Plus The End/Supreme knocking Super out completely only for him to revert kinda throws this whole mess out the window entirely. It's just a half-assed rant on my part.

They're "weak" to it in the sense that they have no outright resistance, but I don't think it's a legitimate weakness that is relevant in most out-of-verse occasions lest the person a Super State is facing relies on those sorts of things anyways.

The Chaos Energy Cannon and Ancient Tech are valid, albeit the Ancients' method is completely unknown.

Any explanation for it would simply be headcanon, but mine would be that we could likely infer that it's due to the Ancients' tech already relying on the Chaos Emeralds' power .

Agreed. I think most examples are either game mechanics or straight up PIS outside of maybe one or two examples, both of which need the emeralds themselves to do anything noteworthy. A CRT, this is not.

It reminds me of Superman & magic. One second he gets rocked by a dollar store magician wand, the next he's deflecting outerversal energy projection from Dr. Fate or some shit.

Not having a resistance to something like that wouldn’t really be considered a weakness, or else every ability in fiction a character doesn’t resist could be considered a weakness of theirs. A weakness would be more like something only they are specifically vulnerable to such as Superman being weak to kryptonite. On top of that, CE is abstract in nature and Super forms possess an infinite amount, so they really shouldn’t worry about their opponent being able to drain all their energy in a VS battle considering the hurdles they’d have to jump through to do so.

I see. Thanks for the info. Wasn't too in-the-know about certain stuff regarding whatever goes on in that sphere.

The Absorbing Man touching Super Sonic to absorb his power (bald boy explosion)

True. I suppose "weakness" is the wrong term.

Since we were talking AMV's earlier, lets not kid ourselves here. THE Shadow song is Diary of Jane by Breaking Benjamin. It's been in a couple AMV's already, but like it fits.

Tfw chaos emeralds has more and better than power stars, hopefully CH hax becomes more known in the future (not even DB acknowledged it lmao)

Because Ultraguy's will was to highball every single hax Bowser or his army had (as we know, Kamek is known for being a haxlord army-wiping threat) and downplay ANY resistance Eggman had. Transmutation being the worst example.

Is it that bad? 💔
For the entire team? No, I would say Moro (the animator) was one of the ones who is a shining example of what a Sonic fan in DB really looks like. And thank God, without him the animation would've been a Bowser glazingfest filled with even MORE spite for the Sonic franchise.

In terms of research? Yes. I have no idea who the **** researched Sonic, but it felt like he just nodded along with whatever Ultraguy claimed would affect Eggman. Which is crazy, because they're fine with coming to the site and taking our calcs (Shadow vs Ryuko being the most prominent example).

(Oh but let's not complain guys, people like to stalk the thread and then run to their Discord servers to claim we"re "crying about it". Two-faced *******.)

I can feel tension here. (Not trying to troll or anything)

Though being one of the people who thinks Bowser can win and that Eggman doesn't just 'lmao stomp' him, it does feel pretty staggering alternatively-.
