Sometimes the vsbattle redirects me to a page that appears to be a virus

Basically, the following is happening to me while I'm on vsbattle.

Sometimes I get redirected without clicking on anything. And this only happens on this site, so it's not something that happens to my PC in general.

Considering that I don't have McAfee installed and it's giving me this security warning, it seems like those pages are viruses and so on.

Is this happening with anything else? Is it possible to solve this?

Translation:
McAfee
Security Alert!

You may have recently visited compromised sites that are likely infected with viruses.

⚠️ Therefore, your computer may currently be under virus threat.

Your PC has recently browsed compromised sites with illegal streaming and/or adult content. This may lead to your computer being infected with viruses.

To eliminate potential viruses, you should run an antivirus immediately.

🔵 Run quick scan

This is likely a fake security alert designed to trick users into downloading malicious software. If you see this, avoid clicking anything and close the page immediately.

EDIT

The same thing happened to the following users:

Brazilians: @Omegabronic, @McFriesGuy075, @Dragonite007
???: @BestMGQScalerEver, @ElajRuengies (?)

Note: It doesn't seem to be happening to me anymore since I put an AdBlock extension on.

I never encountered issues like that for the VSBW, but what webpages have you visited?

Anyway, do NOT click the links that the pop ups tell you to. And if you have an Antivirus or PC clean up program, you may want to do a full system scan with that.

This redirect only happens when I'm on vsbattle. It doesn't happen on other sites.

It doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes. Enough times to notice the pattern.

I don't click on any pop-ups here. The redirection happens even when I don't click on anything.

My antivirus didn't detect anything, and strangely it only happens in vsbattle. That's why I asked if anyone else is having this problem.

EDIT:
Today it only happened once (the one in the screenshot)

But a few days ago, it happened more than once in one day.

@Phsccarvalho

I received a reply from our system manager:

"I have double-checked all the files and verified their health; they look good. I think this user's pc got infected, and it is expected to get a random redirect. Ask him to try Incognito and see what happens."

Strange, considering what I said. That it only happened on the vsbattle website and my antivirus didn't detect anything. If it happens again and only happens on this website again, I'll let you know. There's no way I can keep testing it because it happens randomly. Yesterday it only happened once and in previous days it happened more. Anyway, thanks for your attention.

I don't think it's necessary. Didn't he say he didn't find anything suspicious? I don't think it'll make any difference to ask again now. If it happens to me again frequently and only in vsbattle, I'll let you know again.
Well, I didn't understand if he meant that he can check the reliability of our advertisement provider or not. 🙏

Ive had the same problem before and it was the cause of an extension. Once I removed it, the problem was gone. Might wanna check your extensions.
For me it seems like a personal advertisement. It is usually either caused by a site's cookies, or an extension to the browser(addon)
The suggestion to get rid of suspicious browser add-ons seems like a good idea. 🙏

I only have one extension that is for taking a full screenshot of a website. It hasn't given me any problems in these months of use, but I'll try it when I get home. Right now I'm on my cell phone, when I'm on my PC I'll remove the extension and see if the problem persists.

I see.

It's not even suspicious ones all the time, For example, let's say you have an antivirus that advertises itself, It will sometimes when your payment runs out send a "notification popup" to inform us of this.

Though that is fine right? The issue is it's not 100% perfect, let's say for example you have an add "over" or "next" to it, and it registers you clicking on that instead, sending you somewhere completely different. Or it is not updated to the current website address, making the link drag you to the old site, and those are often virus sites. There are also many sites, extensions, programs, etc that can affect "popups". As I explained there are many ways to bypass even "safe popup".

What I am trying to say is, that we can't fully say where the source of the issue lies. Also, do you have targeted ads on this site? Asking since those are often the biggest culprits in issues like these.

Thank you for the information. 🙏

I am not sure. My apologies. 🙏

Okay. That is good then. Please keep us updated here. 🙏
It happened again.

Again only in vsbattle.

And again I didn't even click on anything, I just had the page open and was scrolling down. (I did not click on any advertisement or pop-up for redirection)

I suggested removing the Google extension, but it didn't work.

I took a screenshot of the whole thing to see if anyone knows this URL, if it is derived from something on the site itself or something on my PC that for some reason only happens in vsbattle.

@Phsccarvalho

Here is what our system manager told me:

"He might be using some corrupted add-ons, but we don't know as this is an individual incident. Please ask him to try a different browser or incognito mode where no addon loads."

@Phsccarvalho

Have you made any progress with solving this problem? 🙏
Yes? it still happens. It happened once on a video compression site, so I thought it might be one of those invisible ads or something like that. I installed an addblock, so the redirection doesn't happen (although vsbattle tries to redirect, it can't and the page goes completely white, forcing me to reload it).

On neat, I'm not the only one who's been getting this- although I think it's happened for other sites besides VsBattlesWiki

I was so into vsbattle. But it happened only once on this video compression site (which we know are kind of problematic) So maybe it's a thing of invisible ads?

Hmm. Did you follow our system administrator's instructions above? 🙏
No, but I can try it later on Edget.

my best guess is your computer or browser itself could be compromised , some malware could be running in the background frequently redirecting you to that site.
open you task manager and check if you see any process you don't recognize , or some process is taking too much resource for no reason.

I also found this malware analysis site while searching for the web-address you got redirected to
which basically talks about some nerdy thing about the website you got redirected to (I don't much understand most of it )

but this part
basically talks about about
some process is being created to launch the site you're getting redirected to by disabling sandboxing (--service-sandbox-type=none) and also disabling some optimization chrome has

sandboxing is basically to isolate a process from the system so the site you're opening is directly affecting your system
Process created: C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --start-maximized "about:blank"
Process created: C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --type=utility --utility-sub-type=network.mojom.NetworkService --lang=en-US --service-sandbox-type=none --no-pre-read-main-dll --field-trial-handle=1944,i,14630534655283288315,8306919289631335864,262144 --disable-features=OptimizationGuideModelDownloading,OptimizationHints,OptimizationHintsFetching,OptimizationTargetPrediction --variations-seed-version --mojo-platform-channel-handle=2056 /prefetch:3
Process created: C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" "http://tnmc6xr71o.sbs"

  • chrome.exe (PID: 708 cmdline: "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --start-maximized "about:blank" MD5: E81F54E6C1129887AEA47E7D092680BF)
    • chrome.exe (PID: 4040 cmdline: "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --type=utility --utility-sub-type=network.mojom.NetworkService --lang=en-US --service-sandbox-type=none --no-pre-read-main-dll --field-trial-handle=1944,i,14630534655283288315,8306919289631335864,262144 --disable-features=OptimizationGuideModelDownloading,OptimizationHints,OptimizationHintsFetching,OptimizationTargetPrediction --variations-seed-version --mojo-platform-channel-handle=2056 /prefetch:3 MD5: E81F54E6C1129887AEA47E7D092680BF)
so uninstall the browser and run malware scan in windows security
I would also recommend using firefox

This happened to me too today. The only extension I have is AdBlock but since fandom doesnt seem to allow that anymore, I had to disable it.

Maybe it only seems to happen in Brazillian IPs?

Happened to me as well
Did the exact same thing happen? Being randomly redirected to this security warning site when using vsbattle? The same one I showed? It only happened once on a site outside of vsbattle, which was a video compression site. And for me it only happens on my PC, never on my phone.

I will ask our system manager about this.

I also recommend using Bitdefender and Malwarebytes to help keep your computers safe. 🙏

I have asked our system administrator, and he will contact our advertisement provider about this potential problem. 🙏

This appeared to me too

Ok, this really isn't an individual thing.

For reporting:

I'll put the affected people in the OP.

Also, to update, I still used the same browser and nothing happened today. (It doesn't seem to be happening to me anymore since I put an AdBlock extension on)

This appears to be an advertising problem.

Yes. Our system administrator has reported the problem to our advertisement provider. 🙏

Can you check if said Extension is available in Chrome or Edge browser store?

There are cases where Extensions get hijacked and have to be removed by said stores.
I once had an extension that is suppose to increase the Volume of tabs but it got hijacked by a 3rd party that was using my account to farm views on random videos but still retains its original function to boost volume

Try to temporarily remove the extension or disable it and see if the ads persist still
