How does Bendys Regen work does he need ink to Regen or does ink just make it faster

I think I understand how this works
If bendy is turned into something like a liquid but before that he loses a limb he can't Regenerate that limb when he reforms

He can only reform what is still part of him

I would say bendy can't Regen lost limbs

But here's my theory bendy does need ink to Regen kind of if he does it himself the limb may end up deformed

It seems that Bendy's body is somehow able to draw on the ink around him to repair itself. So while it's not entirely clear if Bendy needs ink to regenerate, it's possible that ink may make the process faster or more efficient.

He regenerated a large chunk of his leg after it was hacked off my an axe
