Say character A is stated to be able to alter the course of human evolution, what would this mean? In less of a physical way(not like a mad scientist like The Lizard from Spider-Man “changing evolution).

Depends on how they do it, if they change the course of everyone by altering past links, it would be causality manipulation, if it changes out current and future links or something, biological manipulation
