Roshi mon lever

Outlier as a term doesn't even make sense in arguments. You can call anything a outlier. It's like saying someone who benched pressed 400 pounds one time cant do it because they benched pressed 200 pounds many more times.

That is reality, this is fiction. Fiction can have many inconsistencies in shit like power levels or fights, which brings up the need to address outliers.

Just saying it's a contradiction is more appropriate. Since like I said, anything can be an outlier. For example, so many people said the moon level roshi was an outlier because if was only done once, that dosen't mean its a contradiction.

I mean, Moon Level Roshi isn't contradicted. It's Roshi using his strongest attack as one of the strongest characters in the series at the time, so calling it an Outlier doesn't really make sense.

If it was just something he could do whenever with like, a casual Ki Blast, then it'd be an outlier.

Just wait untill DBS Goku gets downgraded to High 7-A
I would love for that to happen.
I was on my way to downgrade Heroes to 3-A (Late-Dark Demon Realm Mission) and Low 2-C (Universe Mission-Big Bang Mission), but Domino stepped in with Toki Toki scaling.
Like for example, so many people said the moon level roshi was an outlier because if was only done once, that dosen't mean its a contradiction.
Except outliers are contradictions.

If a god-tier like MAX Power Roshi destroyed the Moon, then all is good. If a low-tier that so far has only scaled to 9-B feats suddenly destroys a country by themselves while still being a low-tier, then they are contradicting their previous consistent scaling, and is thus labeled an outlier.

An outlier is just when a event happens less than others. So like with my bench press example, someone who benched 400 once compared to benching 200 way more, that 400 is a outlier, but not necessarily a contradiction.

It's depends on the situation but if it was with a normal ki blast, it just scales others up. Plus In dragonballs case there's a nifty concept called ki control.

This is a misinterpretation of the term in my opinion. You're basically saying doing higher feats compared to lower feats will always be an outlier.

That is just not the case. If Roshi did his 5-C feat with just a normal Ki Blast when he never displayed that kind of power with a normal Ki Blast, that would contradict the power that the series has shown he has at that level.

Well, that's what the definition describes. "a person or thing differing from all other members of a particular group or set".

In dragonball you can control the area of effect with an attack. So it wouldn't contradict it, it's just new information on their power.

This just means we have to deal with things case-by-case instead of just deeming everything an outlier, that's all.
