Just wondering how energy can hurt elemental intangibility

Heat can still vaporize water for example, so an enemy made of water is still susceptible to temperature based attacks.

Also even without heat, energy attack tend to either be big in scale or cause big explosions, and elemental intangible beings don't always survive being launched on all directions.

Unlike a punch that is small and just pushes a water being's body around, a energy blast big enough would reduce them into droplets far away or make them explode and be scattered around.
