Possible Yume Nikki speed feats

There is a possible speed feats in Yume Nikki, but since both me and another guy sucks when it comes to these kind of calcs, I'm posting the idea her to see what you guys think.

When Madotsuki reaches the rooftop of a mall with the Witch effect, she can fly over the city indefinively, until the player decided to jump or go back. Since she is pretty far from the city, yet moves quite quickly over it, it could be a massive speed boost from normal human when she is on her broom.

If we believe that her speed in this scene is the same as when she uses the Broom the others time, then it could scale to the rest of the verse.

Here is a video of said scene

I don´t think it can be calculated. We neither know the distance to the city in the background nor do we see any particular details from which we could determine any sizes.

Can we find the City in the background? Me and Saikou believe it is near Tokyo.

A previous person calculated it as Mach 2 using Tokyo as a basis.

Hmmm... I don´t know the details of the whole scene, so I may be overlooking something. Can you show me the calc of this person?

Also, I assume from your description that the flight doesn´t take a fixed time and we don´t really know how far she flew through the city yet (she doesn´t reach the other end, right?).

Alpha71 calced the scene.

The event goes on infinitely, but the image/photo itself does end, and loops, I believe.

The scene is just end less travelling through the city, so there is no end of it. She starts in the middle of it, and it just never ends at this point.

Well, if she basically just flies in one direction for a not fixed time without reaching any certain point I don´t see how assuming Tokyo is going to help with this.

That the photo repeats itself also doesn´t really help, since that is just out of neccesarity for the graphics and not actually a change of movement or reaching a certain point. (so assuming a distance for this and dividing through the time it needs to repeat itself would not get accepted)

If I knew Alpha71´s method I could say more to this, but currently I don´t see a method to calculate this.

If anyone has specific ideas for a calculation method I am of course open for suggestions.

I don't know if this counts as a double post but it took around 10 seconds or so for her to fly across the area of the image.

Couldn't we also use Pixel Scaling?

I don't remember how Alpha did it but the result of what he said meant that she traveled Mach 2 in that video.

He used the time it took for the segment in said video to end, even though it doesn't happens like that in the game. In-game it just doesn't ends.

As said, I don´t think this type of calculation would be accepted since it really only loops because of necessity for the graphic.

Couldn't we also use Pixel Scaling?

Only if we knew the distance to the city in the background or the size of some object in the city that we can see.

What about the Mountains?

Could it still be done/work though?

Could it still be done/work though?

I would have to assume a distance for that frame. So likely not.

What about the Mountains?

I don´t think there is a general size for mountains such as this. If that even are mountains and not just hills.

Darn it...

How big is the average Mountain in Japan? Particularily around Tokyo?

I know I can get something from this.

Is the city Tokyo? It looks a bit like Mount Takao from a spontaneous look on the wikipedia page.
You're right...it almost looks identical to some of the pictures...

It's most likely Mount Takao from what I've seen.

Yume Nikki scaling
Ok I have two pictures over each other here. I am assuming the highest mountain there is Mount Takao. Mount Takao is about 599 meters tall. So:
599 meters = 372 px

1.6102150537634409 meters = 1 px

444.4193548387096884 meters = 276 px

All of that happened in 5 seconds.

444.4193548387096884 meters / 5 seconds = 88.88387096774193768 m/s = Mach 0.25

That would be Subsonic.

Now I think it is right that if the background seems to move a distance x, measured based on something in the background, the point of view also has to have moved the distance x.

But I am kind of confused right now thinking too much about background movement....

So as always let us wait until we get a second opinion. (Also because of the assumptions made)

Thank you, I really appreciate you doing this.

I think it should be okay to look at the background loop as a loop in space and not just one done for graphics, since there are lots of areas in Yume Nikki where the map actually does loop. If you look at it this way then could you use the point five seconds in as the farthest she gets from the roof and calf the time she flies back in based on that?

You do have a point.
