saitama 5-B?

Saitama is already 5-b. Besides that does sound like a hyperbole (what Saitama said about destroying the planet for getting annoyed)

Well he beats someone who can destroy a planet like nothing so he is probably higher than that, but doubt we will ever see that happening.

you mean boros? boros is high 6-A, possibly 5-B.which is why saitama is also possibly 5-B instead of being a solid 5-B

Do you know of the chapter and context he says this in?

I'm not immediately saying this is fake, I just don't recall this panel. And there have surprisingly been fake scans made to upgrade Saitama before, which is especially easy due to how crude the webcomic's art style is.

no problem. this is chapter 59 of the original webcomic. page 10.

The statement is most likely a joke. Webcomic saitama is nowhere near planet level, or even multi continent level. We can't use the databooks and anime to support webcomic statement.

I think his tier is fine at this is, Saitama did not specified how much he can "destroy the earth" if he said completely then i would have agreed, but with the match with boros it remains a possibility.

@Jonathan Alright thank you very much.

Now I'm not sure if I or other staff would consider this enough for a straight up 5-B, but I personally think at can at least be used for a little more justification for the 5-B rating.

"Attack Potency: At least Multi-Continent level, possibly at least Planet level (He easily defeated Lord Boros in one punch after getting serious. The official databook and secondary canon anime states Boros was able to bust the earth. Stated to be able to destroy the earth in the webcomic. )"

Of course normally I'd immediately chalk this off as a hyperbole or just a simple expression, but I feel that the official guidebook saying Boros is planet level, along with the secondary anime canon saying the same gives this a little bit more credibility, even if not entirely concrete.

I'd like some more staff input on this before though.

Ryukama @ Given how there's not a single planet level statement in the webcomic [90% of OPM AP comes from manga, anime and databook], shouldn't this be a joke/hyperbole? I am not taking this statement seriously because of the context and medium.

Well ONE is heavily involved in the manga, and had a degree of input in the anime. Along with the databook being sanctioned by Murata. So it's not likely that these Planet level statements are completely out of ONE's knowledge and are just being added by other people while he has a completely different idea with his story.

Now I don't want Saitama to be straight up 5-B because of this at all. I was just thinking it could at least be something added in for his "possibly 5-B" rating. But I'm fine if it isn't.

Well, without actual feat there is no point in putting him on at least 5-B even if it is highly possible.

definition of destroy: put an end to the existence of (something) by damaging or attacking it.

if you put and end to the existence of earth, i'm pretty sure thats 5-B

Cell isn't Solar System level because he has no feats of that level and only statements.

We can't use logic like that. The entire series so far has taken place on Earth. ONE can't just write "Earth gets destroyed" every time a powerful villain shows up. Honestly, Saitama's "Possibly" should really just become "likely", as the idea that he more likely than not isn't planet level is laughable.

@Azathoth Alright and it seems that Dark649 changed the rating.

However do you think this statement of Saitama's is good enough justification, or that it's more likely just a saying/hyperbole on his end in this case? I'm personally fine either way.

It wouldn't be enough on its own, but I think it's fine as a supporting thing to Boros' attack and such.
Exactly what I was trying to say.

i actually think that boros himself should be a solid 5-B. nowhere does it state that boros's final attack was only going to destroy the surface of the earth. he simply stated that he would destroy saitama with his last attack, but it was mistranslated somehow to "destroying the surface". the only REAL indictation of how much boros's final attack would have destroyed comes from the (both canon) databook and anime, which both states that he would have destroyed the entire earth. before you say that the databook is full of hyperboles, can you give me some proof that the databook has hyperboles? someone like boros destroying the earth doesnt really seem like a hyperbole. the databook stating that temari would have destroy the universe is clearly a hyperbole but thats AN ENTIRELY different databook.

we can't forget that ONE is the one that wrote this. why would he write this if he thinks saitama CANT actually destroy earth. yet he writes "i'll end up destroying earth". that makes zero sense.

I'm conflicted on this, to take a statement a character says as he goes on a rant just as he's woken up; then apply it to his physical statistics doesn't seem particularly wise. However, when I'm woken up by something and start getting agitated I surely don't go into specific details like "Wow, I'm going to destroy this Earth if my neighbours keep playing this loud music"; given Saitama's feats into consideration I guess this statement has credibility behind it.

I'm not sure if I'm 100% on this, but I don't recall a single instance where Saitama had a hyperbolic statement when he was talking about his own strength, so for him to just do that would be quite bizarre. In conclusion, I'll be in support of this upgrade but I'll also be on the lookout for opposing arguments, as I feel there's some potential lying there.

This is very true, actually. I'm pretty sure the only one who hasn't made some kind of absurd statement about Saitama's strength is Saitama, because he's not proud of it or anything.

The story is about a guy that overpowers absolutely everything in his verse. There's no reason for him to exaggerate anything about himself (when it comes to strength).

EXACTLY. once again, if ONE actually believes that saitama cant destroy earth. why on earth (no pun intended) would he have saitama say he will destroy earth? saitama KNOWS he's powerful, he knows he can destroy the earth. obviously he wont cause hes not like that, but he was saying it in a way a regular person says "i'll rip that paper apart" when they're angry. he was saying it in a very casual way.

I think this statement is just for comedy purpose and not a serious one.

how is saying "i'll destroy the earth" supposed to be funny?
He's pissed for the inconvenient situations he faced on that day, I don't see how it's a serious quote.

So what you're telling me is.... ONE wrote saitama saying he'll destroy the earth for comedy, yet ONE thinks saitama CANT destroy earth?

> nowhere does it state that boros's final attack was only going to destroy the surface of the earth. he simply stated that he would destroy saitama with his last attack, but it was mistranslated somehow to "destroying the surface".

I don't think so. Here's the raw manga page and the raw webcomic page in both he uses "µÿƒÒü«Þí¿ÚØó" which translates direactly to surface wiping

µÿƒ ='Reflective Celetial body (in this context Earth)

Òü« = Shows possesion

Þí¿ÚØó = Surface/Face

So I don't think that you can translate it in another way that isn't suface wiping. Even in the guidebook the word for "destroy" really doesn't mean in the true sense to my understanding. Anime is a true example of a planet busting statement since Boros changed his wording there iirc.

EDIT: The Viz release also used surface wiping as well
