Potential Fire Emblem Speed Buff

First, I'll begin by saying this I am very new to this wiki. If this is out of place, miscategorized, etc., I apologize in advance. Now, onto the actual thread.

While I've been playing through 3 Houses, one detail caught my eye. The spells Aura and Abraxas (https://fireemblemwiki.org/wiki/Abraxas) are described in-game as light. I know this wiki uses reacting to Bolting as the base for FE speed, so I thought I could see if I could prove that Aura = actual light. Heading back further, I dug up my old copy of Shadow Dragon, where Aura originates to see if it lines up and is consistent. Here are my findings.

Let me preface this by saying the description of the tome literally calls it Light Magic. (Forgive the crappy phone quality, footage of people using Aura in SD is literally non-existent). Now, I know that simply calling something light doesn't automatically mean it's a Light-based projectile, so let's look at that animation, shall we?

As shown, it shoots the beam straight up into the air, and calls it back down. Although it's a blink and you'll miss it moment, it even impacts the ground. Lo and behold, it does not explode on contact.

As mentioned, this depiction is consistent with how it's displayed in 3 Houses, which displays many similar traits, being described and iirc classified as Light, coming down in a straight line and burning the ground. The spell Abraxas shares this trait, with the only difference really being size and color.

Now, assuming this all qualifies Aura as light, what is the speed? Well, for a rough calc, I'll use a blog that is already an accepted value for FE speed. The dodge animation there is similar to the one present in Shadow Dragon, and I figure it'll come out to around the same value regardless.

Now after a quick number crunch replacing the value of lightning with light, we get 17.3% c after rounding, which is Relativistic.

Nosferatu

This is being done mostly in an attempt to gain some consistency points and I frankly don't see it being accepted, but here goes. Basically, the Awakening depiction of Nosferatu has an interesting showing of how the spell is used.

And as a zoom out will show, it comes from a ball of light in the sky

Yes, it's not the normal color of light, but blue/purple-ish lights can exist under the Ultraviolet spectrum between 380-500 nm (The video shows this trait better).

Only thing I can see that really goes against it is being classed as a Dark Tome. It shines from a ball in the sky, the beams are straight, and do not explode. The resulting should be in the same ballpark as Aura.

So, to summarize, Aura:

-Is directly described as and sometimes classified as Light Magic across multiple games

-Magic in the FE verse can create projectiles of fire, lightning, lava, ice, wind, meteors, and swarms of bugs. Light should not be that much of a stretch.

-Travels in a (mostly*) straight line.

-Does not explode on contact. While this and the previous point fall under laser qualities, lasers are still light, and so should still qualify.

  • The travels in a straight-line bit is kind of touchy in Shadow Dragon however, since it changes position off screen. Here's a few counter arguments I can think of:
-The light projectile in this instance can be controlled by the user.

-Offscreen portals that can redirect the light.

-The sprite artists didn't foresee some random guy on the internet 11 years after the game released trying to use the animation as an argument to boost that games speed stat on a random website

Basically, off-screen shenanigans. It's possible the Aura tome in Shadow Dragon allows the user to control whatever they fire, or some offscreen manipulation (Warriors has it closer to the 3H depiction, but Warrior's is non-canon)

Tl;dr ― As I see it, there's a good amount of evidence that can support Aura and possibly even Awakening's version of Nosferatu = Real Light. Should all of this be accurate, it can be used as grounds for a buff to 17.3% SoL since any enemies and allies are fully capable of dodging the attacks.

I don't think being called "Light Magic" is enough to qualify it as light speed. There is what appears to be luminosity. We have Laser/Light Beam Dodging Feats for more clarification for what's considered light. The reason Bolting is considered real lightning bolts is because it mentions creating storm clouds; thus cloud to ground lightning. If there was a spell where the attack mentions it being sunlight, it would probably be a different story. Aureola has shown to behave like sunlight, but no one actually dodges the beam of light.

We also don't really consider balls of light to be light speed; so I'm not sure of Nosferatu is light speed either and looks more like darkness rather than Ultra Violet radiation. Was a pretty well put up thread, but still not enough proof.
