goku vs vegeta

Isn't Broly Saga Goku stated to be canonically stronger than Vegeta? And by a significant margin no less? That and the fact that Goku is more versatile (mostly due to Instant Transmission and the like) and would likely be more skilled than Vegeta (though I'm really not sure about this) should give Goku a handy win.

Vegeta on the other hand is seemingly a lot more ruthless and willing to go for the kill. I see him as far more likely to go all out before Goku would and could possibly even kill him before he would push himself to his limits as well.

It's close but I'm gonna go with Goku. A significant AP gap along a possible skill advantage should give him the victory.

Is this really a controversial topic? To me it feels pretty cut and dry regardless of the outcome. Though I'm not really active on DB matches so I could be missing something.

Really? I always thought the general consensus was that Goku was stronger but the controversy was about just how much stronger Goku was. Well assuming their comparable, the fight isn't nearly as clear cut as before. Goku has a good skill advantage and Instant Transmission to work in his favor while Vegeta may have more experience and is a lot less hesitant about killing his opponent than Goku is.

When it comes down to it, I still see Goku pulling of a victory (though its an even closer battle than before). Goku has greater versatility and can use this to gain an edge over Vegeta. His use of IT and other techniques could make up for his lack of ruthlessness which is what makes Vegeta a pretty formidable threat to him in the fight.

I'm not really all that knowledgeable about Z so I can't exactly give my opinion on that. They don't ever fight in Super IIRC, and Goku has changed a lot from his early days. I do know that Vegeta was explicitly stronger in their first fight (or at least started out that way) so Goku not beating him then doesn't surprise me.

Goku would technically be the better fighter of the two since he spends most of his early life training in martial arts and learning to fight opponents stronger than he is.

Some may argue that Goku has better skill, well,he doesn't.Vegeta is as good a fighter as Goku, since the latter never ever outskilled him.

Vegeta as a kid was raiding planets and fighting Saibaman while Goku was an infant.

Inconclusive.

Fanboys of both may argue though, for me it looked like the show portrayed both equally.(aside from UI)

Wasn't a large part of that due to him just being generally extremely powerful? Of course he would have skill but I don't see it being portrayed as much in the original series.

Really? That's it?

Vegeta did that with such ease because he was hella strong, not to say he wasn't skilled.

Goku has shown multiple times to be far more tactical than vegeta in battle:

  • Against Freeza on Namek, suing small glimpses of the Kaioken
  • Against Cell, comboing his Kamehameha with Instant Transmission
  • against yakon, by making him absorb too much energy
  • Against Hit, in every possible way
  • Against Jiren, even if that never worked.
Vegeta is a much more ruthless fighter, and tries to get through the opponent by completely overwhelming them.

Besides, why is skill/experience even an argument at this point? The two fought somany times against and alongside each other than they know pretty much everything about themselves. The only thing that could happen, sis one pulling a trick that he've never tried before, thus surprising the other, but then again, that cannot happen in thistype of thread, and knowing Dragon Ball, he would most likely be Goku.

The official description of their power as off this saga is that Vegeta is trying to catch up to Goku, which means Goku is stronger than Vegeta. Voting Kakarotto.

Heck, in the 2004 remaster of the DBZ manga, Toriyama added 1 more page at the end of the last chapter, where Vegeta syays to himself that he swears that one day, he'll surpass Goku, which other than ******* his character development in the Buu Saga preves that Vegeta will still be behind Goku even at the end of Super.

Kakarot was stated to be stronger by a writer of the Broly movie and he clearly performed much better than Vegeta. My vote goes to Goku, despite how much I hate that.
