The Golden Temple of Truth and Justice

8:46 AM

Sermon Hall

The sweet smell of sented candles permeated the temple's hall as legions of men bowed in holy prayer, kneeling as a golden statue of Phoenix Wright Himself stood over them, held up by chains. Before them stood a robed man behind an altar, one known as Imaa B. Liever. "The Holy Prayer of Faith in one's Client has ended. All rise." Imaa spoke with a deep, authoritarian passion, the voice of a man completely entrench in religous faith. "Today draws our review of the first five Holy Turnabouts to a close. We shall recite the court record of the State vs Lana Skye trials word for word, in order to entrench in our hearts the tale of how our Lord, the great Defender of the Innocent, destroyed the lies of the vile demon Gant, and in doing so, spurred the heretic Edgeworth into a journey of self discovery, after which he became true believer in the Attorney's Gospel, becoming an honorable member of the church which praises His name."

Sermon Hall

"And that concludes this week's sermons. We shall begin the second chapter, Trials and Tribulations, tomorrow." The large crowd began to funnel out, away from the grand hall. Only one man weaved his way through the crowd, towards Imaa as he was packing up his scriptures. "Ah, yes. Brother Shigaraki. A pleasure." Tomura's hands twitched as he forced himself to tolerate the childish name. Sensei insisted he keep his cover. Sensei knew best, he would do as he was told. "You honor me, Judge Liever." He did a traditional bow of respect to follow up on his rusty English. Imaa laughed a deep, compassionate laugh. "There is no need for that, young one. We're all equals here." Tomura scratched at his back, a bloodthirsty rage boiling up in him as Imaa laughed off his polite gesture. Remember Sensei's lessons. Keep calm, stick to the plan. "I was only being polite. Prey tell, have you dound the card yet?" I know for a fact you haven't you stupid old man. Imaa nodded sadly. "Unfortunately, the Master Card still remains unfound. I'll admit this worries me, you never know what could happen at night." The Master Card was an ID card Imaa carried with him at all times. It was the only way to get into the temple at night, as the doors automatically locked after 6:30 in order to prevent anyone from stealing the treasured gold statue hanging above them. "As long as it remains unfound, I'll make sure no one will know it went missing." Tomura promised, barely keeping a smug smile from stretching across his crusty lips. Imaa didn't need to know that Shigaraki had swipedthe card. "Yes, I suppose that's for the best. Until next week, Brother Shigaraki." Tomura cracked a smile as Imaa left. Idiot.

Sermon Hall

Bruce Wayne aka The Batman, stalked his prey from the shadows of the temple. He'd gotten intel from the Superheroes of Japan that one of their villains, Tomura Shigaraki, had left Japan through unknown means. Sense they managed to pinpoint him to being somewhere around the Gotham area, they asked him to investigate. A bit of digging, and Batman had found the young Supervillain. Apparently, he'd begun attending the Church of Truth and Justice for some unknown reason. It was bizarre, all records of Shigaraki indicated that he hated the ideas of truth and justice. It meant he was likely going undercover, but Tomura's psychological profile suggested he was much to immature and blunt to consider such an idea on his own. Someone is pulling his chain. There'sa puppetmaster behind the scenes, and the only way for me to find out who that is is for me to observe his actions here tonight.

So, Bruce watched with baited breath from a distance as Shigaraki carefully pushed open the large doors to the Sermon Hall. "Why did you drag me all the way here?" A mysterious voice asked. Bruce stopped in his tracks. Even though he'd been following Shigaraki this entire time, he'd somehow managed to miss the man who had been traveling with him. There's only one man in the world who could pull something like that off. Agent 47.

Tomura chuckled a bit. It was a stilted, unstable sound. Like just a little bit of pressure that had been boiling inside him was finally allowed to come out. "We have a job offering we'd like to discuss with you." 47 was unintimidated by the man's demeanor. "I'm not taking jobs at the moment. I've run into some... complications." Tomura physically waived his hand, as if pushing away his complaints, before bringing it back to claw at his neck. "Yes, yes. I'm well aware. You're cover was blown and now the ICA sees you as a liability." 47 was taken aback and Bruce was just as surprised. How does he know who 47 works for? "That's not the kind of information that someone like you would just happen to know." 47 commented. He took a brief look around, contemplating for a bit.

"You didn't set this up." He said finally. "You're competent, you'd have to be if you've been trusted to meet with me, but everything about your demeanor says you're too unstable for this much subtlety. Your boss had me brought here as a way to advertise his power. This room is famously difficult to get into at night after all. By bringing me here, he's advertising himself. Showing that he's someone competent. Maybe even competent enough to get to the ICA." He looked back at Shigaraki. "You're going to offer to put pressure on the ICA, make them reconsider my impending execution and in exchange I'll have to do a favor for you." It was all blunt and professional. 47's voice betrayed no emotional response to these facts, only an acknowledgment that the facts existed at all. Even Tomura was taken back, though that didn't distract from how much he was seething at the implication that he was incompetent.

"...Yes, that basically sums it up." Tomura hesitantly admitted. 47 walked over towards a lever on the nearby wall. A wrapped a gloved hand around it. "You forgot one thing however. You didn't notice we were followed." The lever was pulled and the swishing of chains was heard. Bruce looked up just in time to see the several ton statue fall down on him.

~

47 didn't react to the sickening crunch of a man being crushed beneath several tons of gold. He'd heard worse over the years. He rurned back to an intimidated Tomura. "I'm hesitant to take your offer, but I don't have many options. Call me when you need me and I'll be there." 47 turned to leave, but then briefly paused. "One more thing. You were recorded by a camera on your way in. I know it didn't catch me, but it definitely caught you and might have recorded him. I'd have a word with the night watch guard if I were you." And just like that, 47 disappeared into the shadows.

~

Shigaraki stood there for several seconds, still offput by the near sociopathic calm the man had displayed. Then his childish side took hold again. "Who does he think he is! That impudent bastard! He thinks be can just upstage me like that and walk away!" Tomura rapidly clawed at his head as he bellowed in anger before calming down. "Breath, breath. This is important, Sensei won't be pleased if I kill him." The assassin was unimpressed with me. No, Sensei won't be happy at all. That's it! I'll impress him. I won't kill the night guard, no, I'll threaten his family! I'll get him to destroy the footage and frame someone else! Like that pathetic Imaa B. Liever! A sadistic grin crossed Tomura's features as he moved to bring his plan to fruition. Imaa's the only one whose supposed to have the card after all! Yes, and the one who knows he doesn't is me! Tomura reached into his pocket and gripped the card, turning it into nothing. All according to plan.

Detention Center

Visiting Room 3

Phoenix held the Magatama firmly as he asked his next question. "And you're sure that you had nothing to do with Mr. Wayne's death? You didn't even hire anyone else to do it?" Imaa bowed down, hands over head in prayer. "Oh Holy Wright, please believe me. Great Lord Defender look into my soul and see the truth! My hands are clean! I did not kill that man!" Phoenix awkwardly scratched the back of his head. "A simple 'I didn't kill him will do." (A client who worships me as a god being accused of killing one of my previous clients. Yeah, it's gonna be one of THOSE cases.)

Extra facts

Batman was in fact recorded on that camera, but the footage was altered so that only Batman was seen passing by and not Shigaraki, thanks to Tomura threateningthe guard. The night guard was Wendy Oldbag. It took ten minutes for Shigaraki to even get a word in when he tried to threaten her. You can have fun imagining how that conversation went, but I'll confirm he had to threaten "Edgy-poo" to get her to coop, despite having no idea who that is. No one saw Imaa at the night of the murder as he was in bed, so he has no alibi. The Prosecutor is Simon Blackquill.

Ok. Let's do this. Why can Phoenix prove his client innocent

So. Phoenix olgwts the information that he didn't do it and Stars his research. Phoenix goes to the place of the crime and starts his investigation. Phoenix either already knows Wayne is Batman or easily makes the connection with some research on Bruce. Phoenix keen eye for details and facts would easily pick that fact up. He first goes to question Wendy Oldbag. Who refuses information. However, the reason of it causes her to have her typical, "I'm hiding something" attitude. He tries to convince her. But doesn't end up so lucky. Next, he speaks to his butler Alfred. Who would be hurt and angered by the loss. Phoenix tells of how he knows Bruce was Batman. And he needs any information he can get. Alfred, wanting nothing but justice, complies to help Phoenix with the information. Showing him the batcave, and giving him Bruce's plans and the leak he got from the Superheroes of Japan. He gets the information about the camera. And then we go into our first day

Day 1

This is much like before. Getting basic evidence out there. Basic accusations. But Phoenix lays down the undeniable information about Bruce Wayne being Batman. And with no doubt a large level of evidence, plus a confirmation from Alfred should need be. As well, showing the evidence that he was lead to be there. The court accepts this. Using this information, he then moves to the camera, and would point out any indication that it had been altered. Including what is said on the cameras time or any minor differences with the background. Anything implying a cut or alter. Wendy Oldbag is there to testify. But in a cross examination, both because she wouldn't be thinking straight do to her worry, and Phoenix undeniably superhuman levels in calling out details that don't add up or just BS in general. Plus seeing her reactions on her lies.

Here's where one of two things happen. Phoenix has a charm about him. When someone knows they can help, but are held back for some reason. He tends to pull them out. Wether it's directly or indirectly. His natural pureness makes it hard for them to hold back anything that could help. Like in the steel samurai where he convinced both Wendy and the kid to give evidence they had been with holding due to fear of some other reasons. Adding in, she would know Miles wouldn't want her holding back something. And Phoenix relates to having someone he cares for Threaten. He knows the pain. With all of this. She eventually admits to someone else being there. Claiming that Tomura Threatened Miles life if she told anyone. This causes an immediate issues. And would definitely cause the judge to give another day for evidence and to locate and get this guy on the stand.

Or. He does it the hard way. Turning it onto Wendy and making her seem like the killer. As being the nighrguard there. Funny how the video seems edited, shed had all the things she need like an understanding of the area and where she could set up to kill Bruce, and access to the tapes. Which Wendy much like before, wouldn't go down like that. In this situation, she's forced to admit that Tomura was there. Same result as before. But a harsher way to get it.

Phoenix after the court day. Goes into research. Asking Alfred to get in contact with the people who leaked this information to him. Trying to see if he could connect it with anyone. As well, getting any information Alfred could get his hands on, as researching this crime himself. No doubt he puts most of the case together. Giving Phoenix the information which helps him solve he case. But, he still needed to prove it. So he still needed to grab every last bit of evidence he could. Tomura is forced to court for the next day. His suspension is far to great. Phoenix gets his research after doing what he can with Alfred and researches into Tomura. (Using Wayne tech. Cause why not). Getting all information he can get ready before heading to court the next day

Day 2

This is a simple one for Phoenix. Maybe not easy. But Phoenix, hears his cross examination, uses the evidence and info he has and has already been shown. As he slowly picks it apart. Tomura Continues to panic and screw up more and more. Until bam. When he is caught. He explains what really happened. How it was all Agent 47. the court at first is distrustful to his words. But that's when Phoenix lays it down. The information and files on the last case and how Agent 47 was the one believed to frame bruce Wayne of murder. Showing him connected to Batman. And that there had to be some motive. As this wasn't the first time Agent has done something so bad towards Bruce. Even if they didn't know the reason. This evidence was piled up to high to deny it. With this information. Imaa is found not guilty. And the search for this Agent grows heavier.

So, most certainly proving his clients innocence. And with what he is working with. He gets Agent 47 proven as the killer. And Tomura serves time for the crimes he did. Like cover up, threatening, and tampering with evidence. Wendy is let off the hook cause of the situation. Clearly not a good one. And Phoenix can relate to it. Any crime she might face, Phoenix would get it removed, cause ya Blue suited Boi is like that.

My only issue is the massive PIS of Batman not having already noticed the statue, and prepared for it. It's his thing to prepare for anything, why would he take place beneath a statue that could crush him?

Other than that, good story.
