8-C haxless bracket round 9: Azurill vs Jean Pierre Polnareff

Azurill can see invisible traps via Trap Seer; it can probably see Silver Chariot here.

Jean's AP is 0.8 or 0.75 tons, Azurill's AP is 0.62, which is amped to 1.24 tons by Huge Power.

if Azurill does Copycat does it get a stand??

but uh seriously don't know what stops the thing from using Sing and just going to town with bubble beam, and also charming the stand so it can just ignore it and body slam

In game, Sing has terrible accuracy. In an actual fight, there's nothing stopping Pol from turning Azurill into swiss cheese while it's trying to sing.

That's in-game, accuracy is hardly a factor when it affects all those who can hear it. Does Pol have durability negation? Cause he's not gonna slaughter Azurill in the time it takes to sing a quick melody.

Regardless, it's not the most in-character thing to do.

Sing in an actual fight is kinda undodgeable seeing as how pokemon like Jigglypuff puts everything in the area to sleep immediately when its used

Yeeeah I honestly actually don't see much that Pol can do here. Charm just destroys his attacking plan and body slam could paralyze him, sing puts him to sleep and bubble beam just keeps him at too much of a distance

Azuril can also become invisible via Camouflage and copy Pol's attacks via Copycat

Also counter skills like Counter Hitter will help if Pol manages to land a hit, Critical Dodger and Quick Dodger will make it extremely hard for Pol to land a hit, and Clutch Performer makes Azuril much harder to hit if it gets seriously dmaaged

@Jack

Since they have almost no character and are composited, they basically use all their best stuff in vs threads despite 90% of the spieces not having that and also not being genius battle stradegests. Everyone assumes Pokemon are basically bloodlusted and will lead with stuff like Sing. They won't. Their wild animals. They go with attacks or somthing dumb like Growl. Somebody blindly attacked Pol once. They got a sword in the neck.

But for pokemon battling is in their blood. They aren't that dumb. An Azurill...okay pretty dumb but battling is practically genetic for most pokemon anyhow

Also yeah, Pokemon have natural battle instincts and Azurill is no exception, especially since we take the peak of each species for the profiles. So while Azurill may not be the most intelligent... rabbit thing in the world, it's certainly not going to just growl at an enemy while being stabbed.

It's not random; it's an effective form of incap.

Also, read what I said a few messages ago

I know what you said. I'm elaborating for everyone else.

It's a wild animal. It dosn't go for incap. It goes for the kill. That's how animals work.

I mean pokemon are fairly smarter than wild animals though, especially when it comes to combat. They don't just go for a kill randomly.

Heck some Pokémon are even smarter than humans

No but it's still not animalistic like you seem to think it is. It still has a brain that it can use. Pokemon are far more knowledgeable than, say, a bear

I know. I mean Azurill is DEFINATELY not smarter then a human. It's not going to lead with sing.

We already establish it doesn't do that. So?

Charm or, as you say, Growl, weakens Pol's attacks, so he's going to have a harder time hurting the thing, so honestly...eh. Pol is gonna have troubles no matter what.

More likely it's going to use Tackle and the like. Also Pol can boost SC to speedblitzing levels at no cost since Azurill can't actaully damage stands.

It can damage ghosts which are intangible beings but I dunno how we deal with stands.

Also is it going to start with growl or tackle? Make up your mind dude because you gave two different ways it's start, and neither of them really change much

"It can damage ghosts" Not with Normal Moves. Also, in Pokemon, Ghost types' intangiblity is, incomplete for lack of a better term.

It starts with either. It either barely lowers Pol's attack or misses. Either way it dosn't use Charm or Sing.

Actually Azuril has like three IQ skills that greatly increase its accuracy, so missing is not likely

Sorry its actually two, not three, Concentrator and Sharpshooter, as well as having multiple skills that will benefit it if it does somehow miss, specifically Quick Striker, Extra Striker, and Practice Swinger
