It was chaotic when the strange ship descended on Vellie one evening. The creatures that descended from the ship was like nothing the villagers had ever seen before, and was only barely held off by the town's cannons. Eventually, only one creature remained, and Otus, one of the resident owls, stepped forward to take out this creature before it causes any more havoc.

In the blue corner, we have Otus from Owlboy, and in the red corner, we have a Centipede from the movie Pixels.

OtusTransparent
Centipede
-This is a fight to the death or incapacitation. No holds barred.
-Neither character are aware of each other beforehand, and there is no prep time.

-Neither character are allowed any outside help, barring Otus' companions due to their roles in Otus' fighting style.

-This fight takes place above the village of Vellie, giving Otus the home-court advantage.

-Speed is equalized.

With all this being said, let the debate begin!

Soooo how does Otus avoid touching it the whole time?

Does he have any range whatsoever?

He sure does, especially with Geddy and Twig, but most likely with Geddy.

Ah, and he can summon them as well, okay. Doesn't Twig normally just tie down things? Don't thatd work on the centipede.

So it all relies on Geddy. Hmm...

how likely is it he's gonna run away if the centipede comes charging him?

Very likely, considering half of the bosses he faces are larger than him and he needs to run away from their charging attacks. Heck, the second Owl Guardian statue had to be ran away from, and was only stopped by a waterfall freezing it up.

Also, the Centipede is very unlikely to charge at Otus continuously, due to the fact that its head is literally its weak point. That's why it often turns to the side so there's a chance that its opponent will end up hitting its side and splitting it into two entities.

Wouldn't it breaking up into two different entities be more of a problem for the rest of them, though? That means more things for Geddy to try to aim at and, likely, more ways to screw up or get nervous. I don't think the centipede breaking into pieces would really help them st all...

I'm making a case for both sides here.

You know, trying not to be biased one way or the other.

Aaaah okay. Well, just one last question before I make a vote.

Is Geddy basically the only ranged option? How reliable is he?

He's about as reliable as the rest of Otus' allies. However, in terms of plain attack, yes, he's Otus' best ranged option. Twig's webs would get neutralized by the Centipede's Matter Manipulation, and Otus would have to get dangerously close in order to use Alphonse. He doesn't have to get too close with Alphonse, as his Fire Drive makes the range a little better, but Geddy is still the best option here.

I'm...gonna have to go with the centipede here. I don't know if Geddy would be able to reliably hit the head, and on top of that the more he makes the more likely he's gonna screw up, so...they could probably eliminate him quickly after multiplying and then go for the other ones shortly after

Just for the record, they all share the same weakness, and they literally split and become two smaller Centipedes depending on where they were hit.

Still, counting that vote.

They all can be shot in the head and eliminated in that way.

Were they eliminated immediately? I don't remember too much from the movie but I'm pretty sure shooting it in the head didn't destroy it entirely

No, they didn't get eliminated right away. It's just the only place someone can shoot it where they won't split into more Centipedes.

Right, that's what I figured. Dunno if they'd figure that out right away though, and by the time they do they're likely gonna have a lot of centipedes on their hands

Also, didn't Adam Sandler need some sort of special totally not ghostbusters gun to even hurt the guy in the first place. I recall conventional weapons being useless against the Centipied.

Geddy uses a blaster pistol which has fairly decent range. I think it's close enough to the Pixels blasters that it should qualify under verse equalization.

Also, bump.

Centipede FRA. Duplication and touch-based deconstruction is too much for someone without prior knowledge.
