Rin Okumura is taking a relaxing field day on the outskirts of Mt. Ebbot, when he notices a large glowing barrier around one of the entrances to the mountain. Upon entering, he stumbles upon a large figure in golden armor tending to the flowers. Suddenly, the monster realizes he's not alone, and turns to discover a human had appeared in his room somehow. Rin believes the monster is a demon, while Asgore realizes that this could be his chance to obtain the seventh and final SOUL he needs to free the monsters. Asgore pulls out his trident, and Rin draws his sword, and in the small room filled with flowers, they ready to fight.

In the blue corner, we have Rin Okumura from Blue Exorcist, and in the red corner, we have Asgore Dreemurr from Undertale.

-This is a battle to the death or incapacitation. No holds barred.
-Neither character are aware of each other beforehand, and there is no prep time.

-Neither character are allowed any outside help.

-This battle takes place in Asgore's castle, giving the king of monsters the home-field advantage.

-Speed is equalized.

With all this being said, let the debate begin!

Lost His Father To Monsters: 0

Lost His Son To Humans: 7 (GyroNutz, Ricsi-viragosi, CrimsonStarFallen, ApiesDeathbyLazors, TheArsenal1212, Gargoyle One, Dargoo Faust)

Soul manip with every attack + Danmaku + probably more skill + experience = dead Rin. Asgore resists soul manip to a very high degree. Probably has the AP advantage too.

Am I missing something?

The only advantage Rin seems to have is possibly AP, and that honestly doesn't change much here.

Soul danmaku gg.

Yeah, I guess Asgore FRA, but I don't think it's quite as easy as some migh think. Rin's Satan Slash should counter Danmaku since it seems to have a wide effect arc. His regen should be useless here considering the more dangerous damage is soul based. Like previously stated Asgore has resistance to soul damage so Rin will be taking damage faster. Yup, it seems like Rin's only real advantage is his higher AP and Satan Slash countering danmaku.

Iirc Rin's regen needs to be upgraded. I'm pretty sure he regenered from ashes at some point after his demon heart broke

I mean. We aren't saying he doesn't dodge. Just that he is going to have a harder time doing it.

"Why can't he just dodge"

Not sure why bringing a basic "ability" that anyone can do is relevant here. Sure he can dodge some hits, but when he gets hit he's dead.

And if he can smack every hit coming his way with a giant wave of fire, he's going to be doing a lot better at avoiding hits than Frisk was.

He's not gonna be able do dodge every single attack Asgore throws.

The moment he is hit he's dead.

He doesn't need to dodge, he just needs to shoot them out of the sky. He can just throw wave after wave of fire to cancel out Asgore's attacks.

Unless you're arguing that he will be able to counter literally all of Asgore's hits until he wins, I don't really see your point. Sure he can do better than Frisk, but that doesn't mean he wins. He doesn't have the resistance to not die from Asgore's hits nor the SAVE & LOAD to power through his attacks.

He has an AP advantage

All he needs to do is throw out waves of fire at Asgore, which due to his AP advantage would cancel out Asgore's attacks while still themselves continuing on, and whittle asgore down.

So you ARE saying that he will just literally avoid or block every shot from Asgore?

Even if you say that he needs to X to win, WOULD he? His profile doesn't seem to imply he'd just keep out of range and carefully whittle down at Asgore during the entire fight instead of going CQC.

Because he's quite capable of doing so. Yes. He actually makes a fair amount of use of his satan slash and satan bomb (which just appears on the target) in combat, he doesn't just charge up and start wailing on them with the sword.

But your interpretation would imply that he would spam projectiles and pretty much never go CQC the entire fight. AND that he would still manage to counter all the danmaku.

Point is, imaging a specific scenario in which Rin would win doesn't really relate to how he would actually fight and if he does win most scenarios.
