An end to the Mario vs Sonic saga

This could very well be a mismatch, but I'm not letting lousy downgrades get in the way of one of the biggest rivalries in fictional history.

So, this is base Archie Sonic vs Base Mario. Battle takes place on Yoshi's Island.

Sonic is equipped with some power rings whereas Mario has access to any and all equipment he's had and used in past games (hopefully offsets the AP gap). This obviously doesn't include stuff like Stars and Pure Hearts etc.

Speed is equalized. Who wins and why?

What? Restricting immortality is definitely allowed and is done on > 90% of threads with characters that have said immortalities.

Sonic's equipment is stuff like Chaos Emeralds. He has more than enough AP and durability to make it fair game... I hope
 
Okay, but you should probably enable Sonic to use his equipment or he has no hope of contending with his opponent.
 
Sonic is baseline 4-B while Mario is High 4-C+. Sonic doesn't have enough AP to make up for the hax disadvantage.
 
It's not really nerfed. Sonic would likely stomp if he had a chaos emerald and all power rings would do is increase the AP gap. I'm just trying to make it more fair.

If you really want, Sonic could have a few power rings?
 
Nevermind. It's whateves, I guess.

I'll vote Mario via versatility and remotely comparable AP which he can improve with Statistics Amplification.
 
Restricting abilities is allowed, but the result will not be added to the character profiles unless you restring an ability has a separate tier from the key that is being used.

Also it only accounts for higher-dimensional shit and the wind ain't higher-dimensional.
 
Actually there was a thread in which it was agreed to remove that rule, they probably didn't update the page

I was talking about this one:

  • It is fine to restrict abilities in a versus matchup. However, matches that are arranged this way should not be added to the character profiles, as they don't involve their full potential, and are only intended for casual entertainment. An exception would be if the restricted ability/technique has a separate tier from the main one. In this case the match can be added.

All of them except those that require chaos energy, pretty sure
 
Putting a speedster in a match which speed is equalized is a little bit questionable lol, even though if it wasnt equalized, it would probably be completely unfair.
 
It's because he's a quickster that I have to equalize speed, sadly.

I will vote for Sonic currently, simply for higher reality warping and higher Regenerationn, although i am completely willing to change my vote if my opinion is changed.
 
He can use reality warping without chaos energy?
