What are the rules about adding Creepypastas?

A vaguely remember that it has to be from the original story, no spin-offs or the like. For one it is kind of upsetting when people say Creepypastas have no canon. If someone writes a Dragon Ball fanfic is that assumed to be canon? Heck no. Creepypastas are only the OG stories. And I also remember no fanfic type characters like Suicide Mouse, Sonic.EXE or SuperMan No Heroes. I just want to make sure this is correct. Wasn't it also that it had to be a popular story? If so that does keep people from just adding OCs that should be on the sister sight FC/OC. The characters I'm thinking that could be allowed under these conditions are Smile Dog, NoEnd House, Jeff The Killer (Reboot because it is the official version on the site now), Zalgo (probably would have to tiers 10-c and whatever is decided), The Subjects, and The Rake. These are likely the most popular characters that can be added under the guidelines but I would like for them to be checked out before I do anything.

We do not allow meme characters, only ones from coherent stories that are popular/notable among the general populace. I am not familiar enough with Creepypasta to gauge whether or not the characters qualify.

While they are internet characters the only meme characters would be possibly .EXE characters. If you stay with the original story they are coherent. Don't canonize fanfic. They are popular in some horror communities and some have even been adapted it to short films and such. The ones I listed above are the classic Creepypastas, and are only their canon versions by the authors.

I belive the main story versions can be used, they are well known (with slenderman being one of the best known). They have been abused by the fandom, but sans memes wont get sans removed

Okay. Have they been featured in coherent popular stories that have been officially published?

@Ricsi agreed. Just because fanfic and sexualized fanart exist for characters and stories doesn't mean they should be discarded.
Thats exactly what i said, or meant to say

jeff the killer has featured in games, as has slenderman, do not know about others, but the fandom was well known, with many spin offs

Most Creepypasts, by definition, have no canon, and are just stories that are recurringly rewritten, expanded, and modified by countless people with no connection to each other. It's the modern internet equivalent of boogeyman stories. They have no canon nor consistency.

no, creepypastas are stories of horror, they have spin offs, but the main story is the only and one canon thing

@Matthew

Okay. Thanks. I suppose that it seems best to not allow most of them to be added then.

Which of them are featured in coherent stories, with a likewise coherent official canon, along with a high notability?

My apologies, but it would set a bad precedent if we start to allow urban myths and meme characters.

In any case, I am too tired and busy to properly evaluate this. I cannot do everything in this wiki, and need help from the rest of the staff.

Eyeless Jack has no feats and was removed from the sight I believe. Jeff was removed and replaced with the reboot. The others have canon and are popular.

Well, you will have to ask some other staff members to comment here. I am too tired. Maybe The Everlasting knows more about this. I vaguely recall that he knew about these types of characters, but may misremember.

Just the OG Jeff story or the first Reboot Jeff story seem fine. The reboot was made do to the OG version being poorly made and removed from the creepypasta wiki.

The definitions I found said "Creepypasta is a genre of scary stories distributed via the internet."

If the fact that there are spinoffs of them disproves theire validity as stories then there are barely any well known storeis that dont get excluded with that logic

Yes.they.do. There is only one Russian Sleep Experiment. Only one NoEnd House. Only one Smile Dog OG story and all the ones I linked have their OG and only their OG story. They are clearly coherent.

I am leaning towards agreeing with Matthew, and do not have the time and energy to continue arguing about this. It would probably be a good idea to close this thread.

Like, sure there are original stories, but they have no consistency or logic. Anyone can pick a Creepypasta character and do whatever.

Cthulhu Mythos has a very expansive original canon that encompasses not just everything Lovecraft wrote, but also the writings of Clark Ashton Smith and Robert E. Howard to name a few. SCP has official writers and standards, and if an entry is hated it is deleted and removed from canon.
