African Lion vs Grizzly Bear

This has been done so much I'm surprised it took this long to get to this wiki. Anyways, I'd say they're even in strength with the Lion having far more feats on it's page but the Grizzly has a greater bite force. However the Lion is faster and it looks to be even again in durability but the Lion's page shows it to have better pain tolerance and it's mane provides some natural protection that the Grizzly lacks. Overall, I'm going with the Lion.

I see the bear as having greater durability, though putting them at equal weights removes a lot of the bears advantages. In America, people forced zoo Lions to fight large Grizzly Bears and more often than not the bear won, with the sheer strength of the bear breaking the lions bones and skull. At equal weights that won't happen.

I would say the bear is more durable, slightly ahead in strength, but much slower and less mobile than the Lion, and much less aggressive and combat ready than the Lion. Bears aren't nearly as expert killers as they are. Overall I say inconclusive due to the bears durability just being too much.

Equal weights is kinda unfair LOL

So what is this ? Chronically obese lion vs newborn bear cub.

I vote bear cub because the lion will probably die due to heart disease.

Lions and bears can reach similar weights; male lions weigh around 331 to 551 pounds, while male interior grizzlies weigh an average of 400 pounds. Yes grizzlies can get larger, but it is possible for both animals' weights to match.

While it is possible for both animal's weights to match, you'd be getting rid of the bear's advantage by making them equal size, grizzlies average out around 400-800 pounds, which means this is a fairly large African Lion against a small Grizzly.

That being said, I believe the bear would have the advantage in strength, durability, and bite force, while the lion only has an advantage in agility.

The lion's mane might protect it against a direct bite to the neck, but any swings from the bear to any other part of the lion's body is most definitely breaking bones, my vote goes to the Grizzly Bear.

Average weight of a male lion is 400-420 pounds. The average for a male grizzly is around 600 pounds. equalizing weight would mean this is a very sick bear or a bear that has not matured yet so this makes it into a lion in it's prime vs a questionable bear.

An inland grizzly can weigh as much as a male lion, so there's no problem for equal weight.

I'll say inconclusive for this one. The bear will have superior forelimb grappling and jaw grappling, while the lion will have sharper claws and a stronger bite.

From what I've read inland bears only have a similar weight if they are female and of course these are smaller and weaker than their male counterparts, and since these are both males for this scenario it points back to the male being malnurished or immature.

This is still a relatively small bear against an average size lion.

That being said, I still vote for the bear due to having the advantage in strength, durability, stamina, and bite force, while the lion only has it's mane for some protection, and the agility advantage, which doesn't mean much in a fight like this.

Grizzly should have the win. It should have all the advantages minus some speed and agility, but not by a massive amount. And it should have one shotting potential on it's side.
