later we see the character with his hands over the painting where the characters got sent.

well his name is bai qiuran.
what context would be needed? im still in the middle of reading the series.
we can see that they are moving inside the painting and that they started to build a house, bai should be able to just paint over the painting and what he paint should become a reality in the world they are living in.
