As we all know, The Mimic page from Five Nights at Freddy's has a "VR World" Key, which is Glitchtrap. My question is: Where or when was it ever confirmed that Glitchtrap is the Mimic? In fact, I remember that Scott once said in an interview that he likes the idea of Glitchtrap being "haunted" rather than a simple digital program. For example, if Glitchtrap really was the Mimic, he could've hacked the animatronics and make them free him instead of manipulating Cassie, a process that takes way longer.

In fact, the main argument for Mimic=Glitchtrap is "Both can mimic voices".

First of all, no, Glitchtrap cannot mimic voices, at least, not in the way Mimic can. "Glitchtrap Mimicked Tape Girl's voice" I'm pretty sure that's his voice that we are hearing, not Tape Girl's.

Second of all, let's assume it is the Mimic and the Mimic mimics William afton. How would the Mimic know about William? No, like, I actually wanna know how.

Glitchtrap is stuck in a VR game outside of their influence on Vanessa, that wouldn't make any sense especially since i'm pretty sure Glitchtrap no longer exists by the time of Ruin.

Glitchtrap knows about White Tiger and hands a plushie of them to the player in HW2. If Glitchtrap was William Afton he'd have no reasonable explanation on knowing what that character was, or why he'd care if he did. Mimic is the only one who has a tie to the White Tiger character besides David himself, so that limits your potential options for who Glitchtrap is and none of those are William Afton.

You're 'pretty sure'?

I mean... look around yourself. The Mimic was literally in a game made by Fazbear Entertainment recreating the horrible events that gave their company a bad press. That includes the man of the hour Springtrap in the game too. It would not be difficult for the Mimic to copy that.

Ok, but how does the Mimic operate at two "places" at the same time (Real World, Virtual World)

It's not that hard to imagine. Mimic1, at its most essential, is a program, that can be copied, stored, and sent. If you just copy the program and let it run separately, then you have two of the same character.

Glitchtrap runs on the Mimic1 program, the same program F10-N4 runs on. The physical Mimic we see in SOTM/Ruin runs on Mimic2. Two different entities who run on a similar program.
So shouldn't mimic1 and mimic2 technically be different characters?

Mimic1 and Mimic2 are just programs. The physical mimic ran on M1 for some time, notably when it was being Fiona for Edwin. You can't really separate them to different profiles because of the code they ran on.

Even then a program can be copied. That is literally what happened in Help Wanted. They copied information from the robots' program chips to create NPC AI in the game

I think the bottom line is that they're both The Mimic, they're just running separately at the same time. While the physical mimic is stuck in the sink hole the game world mimic is copying the crimes of William Afton and recruiting Vanessa into eventually lead up to the physical Mimic's escape.
