Those fools... thinking they can defeat me with just this much! I don't need any help, for I. Am. WHITEBEARD!
~ Whitebeard's boast to the forces at Marineford
Summary
Whitebeard, real name Edward Newgate, is the most powerful of the Four Emperors ruling over the New World (the second half of the Grand Line), and the only person to ever battle the Pirate King to a draw. With Roger's death he became the "Strongest Man in the World", and this reputation makes him the most feared and respected person in the world.

However, twenty-two years have passed since the Pirate King's death and, although Whitebeard is still greatly feared, the world is slowly changing and there are those in the Grand Line are looking to rise to the top and take Whitebeard's place. Whitebeard believes that pirates should have at least some sense of morality and honor, and every member of his crew is treated as his child, and they in turn treat him as their own father.

When people say that he has the power to shake the world, they mean it literally, as he ate the Tremor-Tremor Fruit (Gura Gura no Mi), which has the power to generate massive shockwaves and cause earthquakes.

Powers and Stats´╗┐
Tier: Likely 6-B

Name:
Edward Newgate, epithet "Whitebeard", "Strongest Man in the World", "The Man Closest to One Piece"

Origin: One Piece

Gender: Male

Age: 72 at time of death

Classification: Human, Captain of the Whitebeard Pirates, Former Yonko (Four Pirate Emperors), Paramecia Devil Fruit User

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, (Kenbunshoku Haki, Busōshoku Haki and Haōshoku Haki), Precognition (via Kenbunshoku Haki), Limited Air Manipulation (Was able to casually blow out the "flames" on a magma rock launched by Akainu), Can create powerful shockwaves through any medium with the power of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit, Expert Bisento Wielder, Can use Busōshoku Haki to surround his body and weapon with an invisible armor to augment his defensive and offensive capabilities and allow him to ignore the pseudo-intangibility of Logia Fruit users and others like them, Aura via Haōshoku Haki, Resistance to Heat (Was not bothered by the ambient heat Akainu let off in his magma form and resisted direct magma attacks, albeit with eventually fatal burn injuries)

Attack Potency: Likely Country level via powerscaling (Stronger than the Three Admirals and likely more powerful than the other Yonko. He was considered the strongest man in the world even past his prime.)

Speed: At least Massively Hypersonic (Able to intercept Kizaru in the middle of executing his light-movement, and naturally matched the Marine Admirals in close-quarter-combat), his precognition also further complements his reactions

Lifting Strength: Class T (Garp has strength in the billions of tons, so naturally so would Whitebeard)

Striking Strength: Likely Country Class (Harmed the three Admirals despite their Logia intangibility)

Durability: Likely Country level (It took the combined efforts from all three Admirals to do sufficient enough damage to Whitebeard to weaken him to the point when Marshall D. Teach (Blackbeard) could harm him. However, he did not die until after all of the Blackbeard pirates attacked him together after Akainu had already taken part of his head, and put a hole in his abdomen).

Stamina: Marvelous, despite his old age and illness. During the Marineford Battle he continued to do battle while accumulating injuries and literally had taken 267 sword wounds, 152 gunshot wounds, and 46 wounds from cannon balls. The sum adds up to a total of 465 hits, most significantly those he received from Akainu and Kizaru, and even soldiered on after having half his face taken by Akainu. Weaker characters with less endurance were also able to continuously battle one another for ten days.

Range: Extended melee range to several meters with his bisento, at least several hundred meters with air quakes (can also indirectly generate effects much further than that, at the very least hundreds of kilometers away)

Standard Equipment: His bisento (A polearm resembling a glaive, with a long, heavy half and a heavy, curved blade)

Intelligence: Whitebeard is the pirate closest to obtaining the "One Piece" treasure in the entire world, and along with a couple of decades worth of experience, is the single most-dangerous pirate in his world. He has sufficient leadership qualities to oversee a last-minute invasion of Marineford, an incredibly skilled military strategist, and a match for Sengoku the Buddha. His tactical prowess was demonstrated when he scattered the pirates so that they wouldn't be routed by Pacifista, or when he bypassed the siege wall and has mastered his Gura Gura no Mi.

Weaknesses: Whitebeard cannot swim and becomes immobilized if more than half of his body is covered in water. He's also a static fighter and doesn't usually dodge incoming attacks from opponents.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Haki: There are normally two types of Haki regular people can tap into: the Kenbunshoku Haki which allows individuals to sense the presence of others, and Busōshoku Haki which allows individuals to create an invisible armor around them. There is however a third type of Haki, Haōshoku Haki, that only a few individuals can use. Whitebeard is one of these people.
    • Haōshoku Haki (Color of the Conquering King): The ability to knock out someone else or a large group. While inexperienced users are restricted to intimidating one being or blindly knocking out any with weak wills around them, those with more expertise can pick out weak willed individuals in a large group to knock out.
    • Busōshoku Haki (Color of Armaments): A form of Haki that allows the user to create an "invisible armor" around themselves. With that, they can protect himself from attacks, and if trained well, use it to deliver stronger attacks. Besides the increase of strength, it is the only form of attack that doesn't involve Kairouseki that can hit any Devil Fruit user, being able to hit the user's original body even if it's a Logia user. It can also be used in weapons.
    • Kenbunshoku Haki (Color of Observation or Mantra): A form of Haki that allows the user to sense the presence of his opponents. A user of this type of Haki can predict an opponent's moves before he gets hit. This works by showing the user an image or brief "premonition" of what the opponent will do, manifested as a mental image in the user's mind's eye, and the damage the user will take if the attack "hit" for real. It appears that the more killer intent the enemy has the easier they are to predict, though more efficient users can predict future moves regardless whether there are ambient murderous intents or not. Including the distance, location, and where the opponent may strike next.
  • Gura Gura no Mi (Tremor-Tremor Fruit): Whitebeard ate the Tremor-Tremor Fruit, turning him into a "Tremor Human" that can create incredibly powerful shockwaves through virtually any medium, including air, land, and the seafloor.
    • Kaishin: Whitebeard swings his arm (or arms) and literally cracks the air itself, sending devastating shock waves through the air in the direction it is facing. These shock waves are able to pass through and damage almost any substance, literally tearing it apart. The shock waves can also be sent into the sea, generating huge tsunamis, and can be used in conjunction with physical attacks in close-quarters combat - as Akainu can attest. This attack is so powerful, that the combined Busoshoku Haki of all three Admirals was needed to nullify it.
    • Gekishin: A close range version of Kaishin, causing severe damage to even giants and an admiral. He can also passively generate vibrations around himself to ward off attacks like Aokiji's freezing mist.
    • Kabutowari: Whitebeard converges quakes into a sphere of focused power around his fist, effectively harnessing his terrible destructive power into a pinpoint attack he can use in close-quarters combat while avoiding collateral damage (evident when Moby Dick's deck didn't suffer a single dent when he crushes Ronse's head with a quake bubble against it).
    • Naginata Rasetsu: Whitebeard surrounds his bisento with the same bubble to greatly increase its striking power and range
    • Shima Yurashi: Whitebeard grips the air as if it were tangible and pulls on it, releasing a massive shockwave that was powerful enough to tilt all of Marineford despite its reinforcements along with the seas that Aokiji had frozen.
    • Quake-Explosion: Similar to his quake bubble, Whitebeard focuses his quake power around in a sphere of focused power, with the difference that he then sends it forward and releases it in an explosion-like quake.
Jax 2

Who wants a piece of the champ?
Summary
It is seldom the case where a champion is defined by his actions after joining the League of Legends rather than before. Such is the case with Jax, for whom the argument could be made that he is the most prolific tournament fighter currently at the Institute of War. Before joining the League, Jax was an unremarkable soldier-for-hire. For reasons known only to the former leader of the League, High Councilor Reginald Ashram, Jax was put on the top of the list of candidates to receive a League Judgment - the interview process that either accepts or rejects a prospective champion. His Judgment was the quickest in League history, where the Doors of Acceptance glowed and slowly swung open as soon as it began. Jax faced no recorded Observation or Reflection during his Judgment.

Jax proved himself to be an immediate terror in the Fields of Justice. The self-proclaimed Armsmaster of the League rattled off a streak of consecutive wins that to this day has not been matched. A number of summoners in the League grew concerned that the perceived objectivity of the League of Legends would be questioned by the presence of an unknown fighter who was unbeatable. For this reason, the new leader of the League (following Reginald Ashram's disappearance), High Councilor Heyward Relivash, created special restrictions for Jax to fight under. This was something the League had never done before, and something which has never been done since. The burly fighter responded by imposing his own special conditions; as a means of protest, he permitted himself to fight using only a brass lamppost. Neither the League's sanctions nor his own has affected his winning ways. The League has since rescinded its sanctions, but Jax has not; he fights and fights well with his trusty brass lamppost.

Powers and Stats
Tier: At least 6-B, likely higher

Name:
Jax, Grandmaster at Arms

Origin: League of Legends

Gender: Male

Age: Unknown (Likely over 1000, lived in Icathia before it was destroyed)

Classification: Mercenary

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Can use any weapon to maximum efficiency (Though he prefers ones that are similar to a polearm), Limited Fire Manipulation (Via Empower), Skilled in hand to hand combat, Can increase his offensive and defensive power (Via Counter Strike and Grandmaster's Might), Regenerationn (Mid-Low)

Attack Potency: At least Country level (Was the only champion in the League so powerful that he had to be restricted by the High Councilor in order to make battles within the League of Legends fair, making him vastly stronger than Anivia, the most powerful champion up to that point), likely higher

Speed:
At least Hypersonic+ with Massively Hypersonic+ reactions and combat speed (Should be superior to the likes of Gare and Veigar, considered above every other champion at the time, having been the only one that the League had to restrict the power of), likely higher

Lifting Strength: Likely Class M+ (Due to being known as the strongest in the League, which should make him stronger than Malphite)

Striking Strength: At least Country Class, likely higher

Durability:
At least Country level, likely higher

Stamina:
Superhuman

Range: Extended melee range with lamppost or similar weapon

Standard Equipment: Lamppost (He can also use a Hockey Stick, Wooden Plank, Fishing Pole, Cardboard Tube, Morningstar, Halberd, Mace, and Trophy, and likely any weapon in general to the same efficiency; these are just some objects he has been seen using)

Intelligence: Very High (Considered one of the most if not the most skilled fighter in all of Valoran, He is a master wielder of every conceivable weapon)

Weaknesses: A bit overconfident, limiting himself by using a lamp as opposed to an actual weapon, holding back against most opponents, altering the way he holds his lamp to make it more difficult to wield, has a limited supply of mana with which to cast spells, his spells have cooldown periods, during which time they cannot be cast (Both are highly exaggerated in-game for gameplay balance purposes; for instance, Ekko is shown to be able to use his ultimate ability in rapid succession in his cinematic)

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Basic Attack: Jax beats the opponent with his lamppost. Augmented by Empower and Grandmaster's Might.
  • Relentless Assault: Jax gains bonus attack speed for 2.5 seconds every time he lands a basic attack, stacking up to 6 times.
  • Leap Strike: Jax dashes to the target unit or allied ward. If his target is an enemy, he deals them physical damage.
  • Empower: Jax's next basic attack or Leap Strike within 10 seconds deals bonus magic damage. Empower resets Jax's autoattack timer.
  • Counter Strike: Jax enters a defensive stance for up to 2 seconds, reducing physical damage from basic attacks by 100% and area of effect abilities by 25% for the duration. At the end of the duration or if Counter Strike is activated again, Jax stuns all nearby enemies for 1 second and deals them physical damage, increased by 20% for each attack dodged, up to a maximum 100% increase.
  • Grandmaster's Might: Jax deals bonus magic damage on every third basic attack within 2.5 seconds. When activated, Jax gains bonus armor and magic resistance for 8 seconds.
Welp, the Strongest Man in the World is 6-B now, so lets put him up against the Strongest Champ in the League (Pre-Retcon of course ovo). In character, no prior knowledge or prep time, SPEED EQUALIZED. Who wins?

Whitebeard - 2 (Knightofannihilation666, Cropfist)

Jax - 1 (Xmark12)

Whitebeard via precog, fire resistance, far better range, far better stamina and endurance.

Also when was WB upgraded to country level? I thought he was small country level?

Whitebeard may have more endurance, but that won't help against bashing spam that's higher than your durability (Likely Country durability vs at least Country, likely higher AP). Plus that precog won't really help when your strategy is to basically tank attacks. Jax doesn't need to light his lamppost on fire to win this one.

Going Jax.

Actually Whitebeard should have the likely part removed. He's now a solid 6-B

Whitebeard scales to a 49 teraton feat, how much Teratons is Jax?

"At least" does mean something in vs matches. It means you're on A: The high end of a tier, or B: above baseline of a tier. That could mean a lot in terms of power. Even if they're on the same relative tier, that doesn't mean they aren't able to at least K.O by that power. I mean, average humans can knock each other out all the time with well placed blows, even though we're relatively on the same tier.

Jax in this case is way above baseline Country level to an unknown degree via scaling by Anivia. Someone should get on calcing how big's Freljord though.
