Considering how it explicitly bypasses barriers it sounds like something that doesn't physically travel the path between A and B. So, in our terms, it sounds more like teleportation than speed. Non-magic teleportation, but still something like teleportation.

No, it is clearly stated that it is not the teleportation or blink spells used in the verse, as those need the usage of mana and a long cast time which his technique does not use. It doesn't say that it isn't a special technique that just doesn't use mana. I.e. it can be a special non-magical technique or something like that.
As it is quite clearly indicated that through that technique he can just bypass barriers it clearly isn't just being normally fast.
