Warcraft: Why is everyone unknown?

Just as the title says, what happened? Thrall, Illudian, Gul'Dan, Arthas...I thought everyone was Island Level.

They were changed and waiting for revisions due to inconsisties, lack of context, poor calculations or otherwise just incorrect info.

They were changed because the feats they were scaling off of were retconned and are no longer usable.

Everything up until Mists of Pandaria got retconned by the warcraft chronicles so if you have feats from the last three expansions those should be fine.

It varies, some of the changes are minor like choice who exactly went into the various raids and defeated the boss, other changes like introducing the void lords and changing the whole reason for the burning legions existance would be pretty major.

You can either read the 3 volumes yourself or you can go to these three videos created by Nobbel87 which do a pretty good job of summarizing all of the major changes in the warcraft lore caused by the chronicles. The video's for vol. 2 and 3 also have WoWhead articiles for people to read.
