I would suggest Umineko then. It's really good. You can download most of the visual novels at erogedownload.com
I've been using that site for a few years now and it never gave me any trouble.
I would also recommend Kara no Shojo. It's not like Dies Irae, but it's a great murder, mystery VN. It might get heavy at some parts and hard to understand. Especially beginning.
