In contrast to verses that were stronger than you thought, what are some verses that were weaker than you thought? Me personally, I thought Berserk, My Hero Academia, and Dishonored were a fair deal stronger than they actually were

Supernatural (I thought most of the regular angels would be well above city level, and the archangels were somewhere on the cosmic level), Lord of the Rings (I expected most of the main characters to be much higher than peak human and thought Sauron was way above country level), Mythology (Most of the gods are at least Universal, and maybe some are beyond space and time, right? Nope!), and Soul Eater (Not sure exactly but I thought higher than multi-city block level).

Dragon Ball. I used to think this verse was above most others and could compete with DC and Marvel. But I was a stupid preteen then. Now I realize that though the verse is strong, it is nothing special among the plethora of verses in the same DC/AP bracket and would get the stuffing kicked out of it due to a relative lack of hax and variety of abilities.
Yu Yu Hakusho. I used to be one of those people who thought that S-class demons were planet level and Relativistic. YYH is still a decently strong verse but nowhere near Part II DB levels.
