Type 1: Exists purely as an abstraction. These characters lack a true physical form, and affecting them requires the ability to affect directly the abstraction itself, because eventual physical manifestations are merely avatars.
Type 2: Embodies an abstraction, and can be resurrected or regenerate indefinitely thanks to it. Destroying the abstraction is required to permanently kill those characters, but they can still be affected without directly altering it.
So True Dark Genie is stated to be the ebodiment of negative energy and darkness. Dark Genie even states himself "So long as human hatred runs pure and clear I will exist without end!!!." TDG manifested himself after Seda (Dark Cloud) built up a large amount of hatred, sadness and grief. Seda goes on to state there is no way to kill him because he was never "born" and that the only way to beat him is to go back in time and erase Seda's hatred.
When this was done, TDG was erased. However The Fairy King stated that this is only temperary and the darkness will return. This leads into the second game where Sirus (Dark Chronicle) goes through a tragic event 10,000 years in the past which leads to the manifestation of Dark Element. The same thing was done to Dark Element. Max and Monica go through time and erase Sirus's hatred but before Dark Element was erased he completely removed himself from Sirus and became the "physical embodiment" of Sirus's hatred and thus was not erased but do to putting all that essence into a physical form he was able to be destroyed physically and couldn't come back do to Sirus's hatred being erased.
So is TDG/Dark Element a Type 1 or Type 2 Abstract Being?. He cannot be killed to never being born, he is the embodiment of negative energy and darkness, the only way to stop him is to rease the negative energy of the being he is manifesting from and even then this is not a permanent solution as he will always come back so long as negative energy exists. He cannot be destroyed without effecting the hatred as shown, they cast only fight his avatars and Dark Element is an acception because he poored all that hatred into a physical form so he wouldn't get erased but agaim it wouldn't matter since a new one will appear when enough negative energy is concentrated.
