Two changes to Rengoku's profile

1) Addition of a Gaiden Key

I was thinking of adding a key of Kyojuro in his Gaiden story, before he became a Hashira. He was not as strong back then, needing some struggling to defeat a LM. He will be 9-A and HS+.

2) Upgrading main key from 8-B to 8-A.

While indeed slightly outclassed by Akaza, it is mostly just in terms of their mortality. Kyojuro can stop a punch from Akaza (now more or less serious), and also cut his neck until his sword was halfway through. Marked Giyu and Tanjiro (at least at first) couldn't go that deep into him.

I'm watching the thread for now but how come Rengoku's profile has a Gaiden key and a likely 8-A even though there are no answer posts in this thread?

I think that Rengoku's current statistics for his Gaiden key are too low. Rengoku considered Total Concentration: Constant that Tanjiro had just mastered through the Rehabilitation Training to be the first step of 10000 to becoming a Pillar which would certainly not be something he'd say if Tanjiro was comparable or superior to Rengoku when he became a pillar. It's also worth noting that unlike Tanjiro Rengoku fought a Lower Moon completely on his own and won whereas the same can't be said for Tanjiro in the cases of Rui and Enmu.

For Rui he explicitly needed the Dance of the Fire God and without Nezuko's help he would have not only been slashed by Rui but he would also have only nicked Rui's neck even with the boost. Even with Nezuko's help he didn't succeed with cutting Rui's head off because Rui cut it off himself and Tanjiro needed to get saved by Giyuu. In Enmu's case he only faced a body that actually seemed weaker than Rui to him on his own and he actually cut off Enmu's actual neck with the help of Inosuke and the usage of his Dance of the Fire God that is a boost compared to his usual attacks. That isn't even taking into consideration how Nezuko, Zenitsu and Rengoku helped out with the rest of the train and how Enmu lamented that he couldn't unleash his full strength when he died.

So, at least 9-A instead of just 9-A?

I guess so. You would also need to take the speed into consideration. I consider Gaiden Rengoku to be quite definitely superior to Post-Rehabilitation Tanjiro arguably even with Dance of the Fire God since Tanjiro apparently needed that for nothing but the neckbone after Inosuke already cut away the flesh that protected it.

When Rengoku's cut Akaza's neck, he 'surpassed his limits', and Akaza was shocked by the sudden growth in his aura's strength, and his ability to block his punch with a punched-through torso.
So it would be Rengoku getting a willpower boost and surpass-limits-near-death boost, rather than his base stats.

An example would be Shinobu; Doma counterattacked faster than she could notice, and it gave her a deep wound that is stated to be sufficient to make her incapable of moving. But after getting a conversation with her sister's ghost, she could move around faster than Doma can see while severely wounded.

Also in Zenitsu's fight against the Spider Brother the poison was stated to have progressed enough to make him incapable of moving, but he surpassed his previous speed and blitzed the Spider Brother while still poisoned.

That makes sense. All three of these characters do in fact have that noted in their Powers and Abilities section.

It seems like as if someone made Gaiden Rengoku At least 9-A while also changing his justification to scaling to Hairo who would be superior to Rui. For his Lifting Strength portion Rengoku in Gaiden key is compared to Post-Rehabilitation Tanjiro which is something that I cannot quite agree on. Rengoku commented on how far away Tanjiro is from becoming a pillar and this key of Rengoku's is the one that got promoted to being a Pillar, so it should be significantly above Post-Rehabilitation Tanjiro.
