Treebeard, a stone, and a 9-B+ rating walk into a bar (Lord of the Rings Low-Tier Upgrades)

Lord of the Rings is very cool, and our profiles for them are almost as cool. That said, some changes must be made.

Change the First:
I made a Q&A thread for this, which never went anywhere, I'll just quote what I said there.

"The justification listed on Gimli's profile states that Treebeard considers trolls strong, but the AP value Gimli is scaled to is just the one for the standard Ents and not Treebeard's 9-B+. This seems a little odd, especially since the whole point of the scaling is that trolls are comparable to Treebeard, not just average Ents." - me 2 months ago

I propose all the characters scaling to the Ents be upgraded to 9-B+.

Change the First Point Five:
Similarly, if the Treebeard scaling gets accepted, I propose a "possibly" rating, here's what I said in my original Q&A thread:
"
Their fingers, and their toes, just freeze on to rock; and they tear it up like bread-crust. It was like watching the work of great tree-roots in a hundred years, all packed into a few moments.' This is the quote used for the calculation, I wonder if it would be appropriate to include an end where both hands are used to tear up rocks, perhaps to include it as a "possibly" end, which would be notable because it would upgrade Treebeard to 'possibly 9-A'." - also me 2 months ago

Since we don't have a visual, it's impossible to confirm if the Ents did do the tearing two-handed or not, which is why I am only advocating for "possibly".

Change the Second:
This part builds upon the last LotR CRT, where it was accepted that hobbits should scale to Bilbo's 28.3796 m/s. However, I think we should upgrade Gimli, Boromir, Faramir, Legolas, and Aragorn to baseline Subsonic because of this passage from The Two Towers:

"Then he (Faramir) turned and without looking back he left them and went with his two guards that stood at a little distance away. They (Frodo and Sam) marvelled to see with what speed these green-clad man now moved, vanishing almost in the twinkling of an eye." (The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Book Four, Journey To The Cross-Roads, page 343)

Basically, Faramir and the rangers could move so fast they surprised Frodo and Sam with their speed, implying it was much faster than either of them could move or thought someone could move. Given this, and the difference between Bilbo's speed and baseline Subsonic (34.4 m/s) is only 1.2086 x, they should be granted upscaling.

The following profiles should be affected by all of the changes:

Agree: LegendariumOfLies, DarkDragonMedeus, Emirp sumitpo

Disagree:

Neutral:

What's the exact reason we scale Gimli to Thorin?
Not sure, if I were to guess, it'd be because Gimli is a respected dwarf warrior not dissimilar to Thorin. The idea that dwarves shouldn't be significantly stronger than one another on average.

Idk if that's fully reliable. Best idea would maybe be that Legolas and Gimli are relative and woodland Elves posed a serious threat to the Dwarves in the Hobbit.

There should be sufficient votes, but should I wait for Tyranno223 or other knowledgable members to give input on the Thorin - Gimli scaling?

It was pretty much this. There's nothing particularly special about Thorin as a dwarven warrior. There's no diatribe about how "amazing he is" like Aragorn or Boromir or Faramir to a lesser extent.

He generally performed better than the other members of his Company, but still lost to the same opponents they did. Plus both Gimli and Thorin are descendents of Durin (Gimli through Gloin) so it's not like descent is a factor either.

On another note, the axeman of Isengard were capable of hurting Ents with heavy blows and they were just the ones left behind while Isengard's actual army, and therefore better warriors, marched on Rohan.

The axemen are >~ Ents, with the axemen being roughly comparable enough to hurt Ents with high effort but inferior. The axemen are in turn < Isengard's actual soldiers who are < Gimli is another part of the scaling.

EDIT: Beregond, a more or less above average Gondorian man-at-arms was capable of surviving severals hits from a "great troll-chief". The designation of "great troll-chief" implies this should be an above average troll in strength and a regular Gondorian could survive hits from it, albeit in armour.

Would you mind making an explanation blog for Ent scaling? I think that would be a necessary addition to the verse page, as all these threads would be too much to put into one profile note.

I'm basically on a semi-hiatus right now. I'm only interested enough to help out with threads and such atm.

That being said, I don't think a blog is necessary. All of what I wrote is on profiles. It's just a bit scattered over several depending on which character each descr is relevant to.

He scales to Boromir yeah. Arguably, he might be stronger. He's at the very least notably taller and greater in stature than rangers who were compared to Boromir by Frodo and Sam.
Would the Nazgul, Gandalf, and Saruman's LS scale too?

Well Gandalf and Saruman already scale to a much higher LS for now. For The Nazgul, well the Witch-King does at least. The regular Nazgul are threats to the Fellowship and scale atm, so yeah there as well.

Alright, Gandalf and Saruman's profiles are locked, so I'll reach out to content moderators to fix that.

the formating on Faramir's page is messed up, speed is placed before attack potency on his page when attack potency is meant to be below powers & abilities
