The Revenant Marvel Comics Discussion Thread

Oh yeah, by the way, what do people think about Ultron potentially being Low 1-A due to upscaling from Thor's peak? I'm planning to do Low 1-A upgrades for Thanos and Sentry, but I'm iffy on Ultron
I think it's reasonable. Certain Ultron bodies can already match Thor, Sentry, and other heavy hitters and All-Father Ultron upscales all of those

Also, guys let’s be real. Living Tribunal is a fraud. Yes, he has absolute authority over the Multiverse and power above abstracts. However, when shown in various universes, he is distinctly portrayed as less all-powerful, and occasionally loses, despite existing everywhere all at once.

Al Ewing, has not yet written about Oblivion, at least not to my knowledge, but here are some of his views from an interview:
  • “But there’s a sort of shelf life to these ideas, and at a certain point they almost start to be restrictive. I always get people asking me about Oblivion, who’s this guy with a tablecloth for a face. And people ask me about him because in an Iceman miniseries from the ‘80’s, J.M. DeMatteis puts words in his mouth that are like, “oh, before there was anything there was absolute Oblivion.” So it’s like, “well, he’s even bigger than The One Above All!”

Besides what is already shown on his profile where he has the cosmic entities, including The Living Tribunal, in his hand, there is also this.
That seemed more like this particular writer being cluelessly inconsistent, or an illusion created by Nightmare, than something reliable. 🙏

Well, it is no secret that I consider Oblivion to be a conceptual cancer, and I am very surprised that somebody (DeMatteis) who considers himself a disciple of the Enlightened Buddha/Satguru Meher Baba would introduce it, and much later even enforce it (after the Chaos War).

Also, given what Murewa revealed about his future Storm plans in that regard, I am very glad that his series was cancelled before it could cause even more structural harm, but less happy about that it was allowed to be published in the first place. 🙏

I agree that it is most definitely an inconsistency or situation of the writer not knowing how absurd it is to have nightmare defeat a few Beyonders. I was just putting it out there for people to see. I don’t recall there even being a particular mechanism in that story as to how he was so powerful he could do that. At least the current highest feat on his profile, where he defeats a few of the abstracts including the living tribunal, was done through absorbing all the dreaming energy of the waking world.

Was going through some old docs I had lying around and I forgot I started doing a malekith rework last year lol, thought I may as well continue since I was halfway through his appearances before I stopped for whatever reason (Was annoying having to reupload all the scans from imgur to imgchest tho). I have a question regarding how we handle Thor's variable tier, physically Malekith is major ass (Although his durability might be very good? It's pretty inconsistent) but his magic and weapons can harm and match Thor and whatever. I put his weapon/magic stats at the lowest tier Thor currently is but I dunno how strict we are with stuff like that.

Yeah that's what I thought (Although there's some way his magic can be argued to be equal to Loki's but it's sketchy imo), so galaxy level it shall be.

So should we move the blatantly misplaced information in Thor's wiki page, and if so, after which statistic? 🙏

For the first question I’m iffy because no CRT but then again it is pretty minor and self evident, for the second question, shaking the universe and shaking all the stars in the universe would go in high universes level, threatening to destroy the heavens and Asgard would go in low outerverse level to outerverse level, the unleashing mystical energy across all planes of existence and powering a machine that would merge infinite timelines would go in low outerverse to outerverse as well

I was only referring to powering a machine that can merge infinite timelines. 🙏

Okay. That is good. Can you link to it here please? 🙏

I am not a fan of The Sentry due to The Void continuously committing atrocities and being a part of The Sentry's mind, not a truly independent character.

Scarlet Witch is currently handled like an unbeatable extremely overpowered Mary Sue, but I prefer that over Bendis' extreme demonisation mischaracterisation detour for many years. 🙏

So what's people's general view on tragic heroes like Sentry and Scarlet Witch?
I like them both. They've been pretty mishandled by Marvel but I think at their core, they're both admirable heroes that have shown how much someone can stick to their virtues despite how awful their lives are

So, after rereading the Doom vs Vecna blog, I asked Google's AI to write the lyrics to a Death Battle soundtrack, and I honestly like the results:

Song Title: Sovereign's Secrets
  • Tempo: 160 BPM (A blazing, frantic pace blending symphonic black metal with industrial techno-thrash)
  • Instrumentation: Aggressive 8-string guitar chugs, a cathedral pipe organ, 808 sub-bass drops, glitchy sci-fi synthesizers, and an operatic choir singing in both Latin and Draconic.
  • Vocal Style: Two distinct vocalists. Vecna's lines are delivered in an eerie, rasping black-metal hiss (with overlapping echo). Doom’s lines are a booming, theatrical, distorted baritone.

🎼 Intro: The Convergence of Evil
(The track opens with an ominous, low synthesizer pulse that morphs into a ticking countdown. Suddenly, a massive blast of church organ colliding with futuristic laser sound effects introduces the main, frantic metal riff.)
(Choir - Whispering)
Secrets... Power... Iron... Tower...
(Vecna - Raspy, echoing laugh)
"A mere mortal playing god behind a mask of tin?"
(Doctor Doom - Booming electronic mask filter)
"You speak to Doom, lich. Your secrets are nothing to my intellect."

⚡ Verse 1: The Whispered God (Vecna’s Movement)
(The music turns sinister and erratic. Double-bass drum pedals hammer at lightning speed while dissonant, high-pitched strings create an atmosphere of pure madness.)
(Vecna - Rasping, rapid-fire vocals)
I am the secret that rots in your mind,
The architect of the dark, leaving godhood behind!
The Hand and the Eye, the balance undone,
I’ll unweave your armor before the day is won!
Your science is brittle, your ego is weak,
I know the exact final words you will speak.
Step into the Shadowfell, kneel to the Arch-Mage,
As I tear your memories straight from the page!

🚀 Verse 2: The Latverian Might (Doom’s Counter-Attack)
(The beat locks into a crushing, militaristic thrash-metal groove. Heavy brass horn stabs punctuate every lyric line, signifying Doom's absolute authority.)
(Doctor Doom - Dominant, operatic baritone)
Foolish corpse! You boast of lore and of dust,
While your magic decays and your trinkets turn to rust!
I have mastered the mystic, I’ve conquered the stars,
Your petty geometry breaks on my bars!
Time is my weapon, the platform aligns,
I siphon your essence, unravel your designs!
You are a relic of a primitive sphere,
Face the ultimate power that the cosmos fears!

🌋 Chorus: Clash of the Tyrants
(The full orchestra, industrial synths, and screaming metal guitars unite in a soaring, epic, and highly intense chorus.)
(Both Vocalists alternating / Layered together)
(Doom):
The world is my throne, the future is mine!
(Vecna): The secrets are bleeding, the stars realign!
(Both):
BOW DOWN! TO THE RULER OF DEATH AND THE SKIES!

Where gods are dethroned and reality dies!
No mercy, no compromise, look to your doom,
From the depth of the tomb to the iron throne room!

🎻 Bridge: The Duel of Wills
(The metal breaks away. A haunting violin solo duets with a mechanical synth-bass line, representing Magic vs. Technology.)
(Vecna - Low, creeping whisper)
"I see your thoughts, Victor... the mother you couldn't save..."
(Doctor Doom - Roaring with absolute fury)
"DOOM RESPONDS TO NO ONE!"
(An explosive, neo-classical guitar solo tears through the track, trading bars back-and-forth with a frantic pipe organ solo. The sound effects of spell casting, lasers, and metal clashing play in rhythm with the music.)

💥 Chorus: Clash of the Tyrants
(The final chorus returns at maximum volume, layered with apocalyptic choir chants.)
(Both Vocalists)
BOW DOWN! TO THE RULER OF DEATH AND THE SKIES!

Where gods are dethroned and reality dies!
No mercy, no compromise, look to your doom,
From the depth of the tomb to the iron throne room!

🤫 Outro: The Final Blow
(The instruments cut out instantly on a massive explosion sound effect. The ringing echo clears to reveal a single, gasping breath.)
*(Vecna or Doom? - A voice gasps, then a sickening crunch of iron crushing bone echoes.)
(Winner - Spoken in complete, icy calm)
"Infinitesimal."
(A single, heavy cathedral bell tolls once, fading into static silence.)

So what's people's general view on tragic heroes like Sentry and Scarlet Witch?
It depends. Both are different kinds of tragic. Wanda is tragic only because of House of M, which was her own actions and which she atoned later by returning every soul dead back. Arc closed and now she can Mary Sue freely.

Bob lacks the agency. The Void is part of him and will continue to commit atrocities no matter what. Bob believes it to be his responsibility and desires to help everyone, yet most often even one saved life gets offset eventually by the Void.

I honestly really liked the 2023 and 2023 Scarlet Witch issues. Wanda was/is confident, living on her own, running her own business (plus Comic Darcy >> MCU Darcy), mastering both magic and her chaos powers, and isn't worfed or emotionally unstable like in her older issues. She still has personal demons and family issues and whatnot, but she's working through them. Plus she makes great and unique usage of her powers in battle.
