The featured characters navigation bar folder?

How about this?

Superman (Post Crisis), Son Goku, Sailor Moon, Mario, Naruto, Darth Vader, Spider-Man, Link (Composite), Godzilla (Composite), Harry Potter.

A Pokemon may fit there as well. Probably Pikachu as he is very iconic. Also we have Ryu from Street Fighter and Scorpion for Mortal Kombat.

Ryu, Scorpion, and Doomguy are not particularly iconic.

The 10 most generally recogniseable characters would probably be best, as long as the profiles are not badly structured, in order to help introduce newcomers to our wiki.

What AMM said makes sense, but remember that our most viewed pages are featured as trending on our mobile homepage, and if you search for us via Google, underneath our homepage (which is the first result) are our most popular pages in this order:

Son Goku, Tiering System, Beerus, Monkey D. Luffy, Frieza, Zen'ō, Sasuke Uchiha, Arceus, Majin Buu, Regenerationn.

As such, for inside the wiki the most notable characters is best. I just wanted to point that out so it's not like we dismissed his idea entirely.

I'm good with this idea.

Doomguy is most definitely not iconic enough to put him there over Link.

Okay. Thanks. I will adjust the featured folder accordingly.

Doom is one of the single most popular video game franchises for years at this point, with new games still coming out. Doom was so influential that every FPS to come out for years to come was just called a "Doom Clone", with some people still calling games that. The series jump started modern FPS games. Pretty much everyone I know has played, or at the very least heard of Doom and over 20 years later, it still has an active fanbase with new mods being released. I fail to see how that is not iconic.

But I digress, no need to derail this thread.

Doomguy not iconic? What?

Maybe within gaming but compared to everything else nobody cares that much tbh.

The game may be very popular, but the character itself is generic, and not sufficiently iconic for this list.

Anyway, I have performed the changes.

If were gonna have 2 nintendo characters we might as well switch Link for Pikachu, Pikachu is far more iconic and there are quite a few people who think Link is actually called Zelda.

@Ant I know you intend no offence but calling one of my favourite characters of all time "generic" is hurtful. I know he's not popular compared to some people, but calling characters generic is a bit harsh imho.

@RadicalMrR Well, Link is far more of a fully realised character than Pikachu is, as far as I am aware, but I suppose that you may have a point. Does anybody else think that we should replace one of the current characters with Pikachu, and if so, which one?

@Krukov Well, my apologies, but it has no particular distinctive backstory or character traits, as far as I am aware.

I think Pikachu should really just be added on. Given that compared to Link, while Pikachu is more known, Link is more of a character. Neither really > the other.

Well, there is only room for 10 profile page links within each folder.

However, I suppose that we could create a second featured characters folder if you prefer.

That would require coming up with 10 more appropriate iconic characters however.

That won't be necessary. Our most notable and popular pages are already visible outside the wiki as popular search results. That tells us that people already know they exist and how to find them because they are the most searched in the world. So, there's no need to include two folders for featured characters. It should generally give newcomers the idea that we have notable characters from comics, films, books, video games, and animanga, which our first folder already does.

Okay. We easily do have room for 2 folders though, and that way we would not have to compromise nearly as much regarding which of them that qualify and should be included.

We do? Well it wouldn't hurt to have 2 folders then.

WarGreymon(or Omegamon), Cloud, Ryu, Hulk, Kratos(GoW) and Sonic. Just some suggestions of the top of my head. Dunno if they are iconic enough though.

Only one character from each franchise is allowed. Cloud, Sonic, Ryu, Saitama, and Aslan might be good ideas.

Doraemon and Mickey Mouse (Composite) are other ideas.

So, my current new suggestions are:

Doctor Who, Luffy, Pikachu, Gandalf, Cloud, Sonic, Ryu, Saitama, Aslan, Doraemon, and Mickey Mouse.

One of them would have to go however.

Well, they are extremely iconic and popular to general audiences, which we try to appeal to here, rather than hardcore battleboard people.

Sonic, Sora, Samus Aran, are ones I'd like, that leaves three.

Touhou is extremely popular in japan, but I'm unsure if Reimu can be added.

Cloud Strife could be could, and so could Lightning. Her profile is quite good.

Saitama or Doraemon perhaps?

However, as much as I like Sora, I am not sure if he is popular enough to qualify. Cloud is more well-known.

Samus is also likely not popular enough. I still prefer my previous batch of suggestions.
