- They're the best in that group, implied to be their leader and tasked with capturing/killing the protagonist.
- They betray that antagonistic force and abandon their group, still wanting to kill the protagonist, now wanting to kill the antagonistic force they served, and turning into a threat for humanity, thus becoming the main antagonist of their trilogies.
- The trilogy the Eliminator comes from presents itself as playing homage to classic trilogies like Matrix.
- The Eliminator is a robot while Smith is a program, the former also refers to the protagonist with his title of "the Chosen One" while Smith refers to Neo as "Mr. Anderson".
- It's very likely, if unclear, that the Darkness created the Eliminators, if so then they were both created by the antagonistic force believed to be the main threat.
