How do we assume Mario even fights or uses his abilities?

Can he just spam them? Can he only use them once? Because theoretically he can just spam Stars and be invincible, and he can also use other moves while invincible at the same time.

Granted he has absolutely nothing against Spiderman, so I'm not sure if he even has a wincon lol
