Souls Immortality and Bonfires

I don't think I've ever asked for clarification regarding this, but concerning Souls protagonists like the Chosen Undead or the Hunter, how is their immortality treated in a match assuming SBA? Do they just have a bonfire there for them to respawn at if they ever die?

idk about the hunter, but the chosen undead resurrects back into the dark souls world after being killed

that being said, it was agreed upon in a previous VS thread that the chosen undead could to come back into the fight as an invader
