Sonic being Tier 2 doesn't kill his character, just like it shouldn't really kill any character. It doesn't affect who he is at his core, a guy who's going on adventures, doing what he feels is right, and answering the call for help when the world needs him.

Now replace "world" with "multiverse". Same concept, character, goal, just a different scale.
