Hi everyone. I’ve recently re-evaluated several previously accepted or overlooked AP/Durability feats in the Silent Hill verse. Upon closer inspection of the geometry and material fragmentation standards, the current accepted calcs suffer from severe structural inaccuracies (such as assuming load-bearing building walls are 3cm thick or using standard rock fragmentation for high-yield concrete/iron impacts).
I have completely recalculated these feats using official architectural standards (International Building Code) and strict VSBW cratering guidelines.
The full blog with the math, standard links, and visual proofs can be found here:
1. Henry Breaks a Wall (Silent Hill 4)
Old Calc: 0.28 Megajoules (Wall level)
New Calc: 22.64 Megajoules (Small Building level)
The Flaw in the Old Calc: The previous calculation used 2D pixel scaling to find the Z-axis (depth) of the wall, resulting in a thickness of 2.97 cm. A 3 cm thick wall structurally cannot exist in a mid-rise complex like South Ashfield Heights, especially for a demising wall hiding a secret shaft.
The Correction: I applied the International Building Code (IBC) standard of 8 inches (20.32 cm) for structural demising walls. Furthermore, Henry obliterates it with a heavy mining tool (Pickaxe of Hope), leaving no large chunks, which strictly qualifies for Violent Fragmentation of Concrete (120 J/cc), not standard rock frag.
Scaling: Upgrades Henry and the SH4 cast (who can scale to/take hits from the Pickaxe of Despair) to 9-A.
2. Claudia's Abyss (Silent Hill 3)
New Feat / Recalc: 0.43 Tons of TNT (Building level)
The Detail: Claudia opens a massive hole in the floor that leads into a deep abyss. Following VSBW’s Standard Assumptions for craters with an unknown or bottomless depth, the volume MUST be treated as a hemisphere rather than a flat cylinder. Using the Violent Fragmentation value for structural concrete (120 J/cc) yields 1.8 Gigajoules.
Scaling: This is a God-tier feat. Upgrades Claudia, God, and Alessa/Heather (who scale to or defeat them) to 8-C. Valtiel should not scale directly to this, as God is explicitly superior.
3. Bogeyman Smashes the Ground (Silent Hill: Downpour)
Old Calc: 0.013 Tons of TNT (Small Building level)
New Calc: 0.104 Tons of TNT (Small Building level)
The Flaw in the Old Calc: The old calc evaluated the crater as a perfect rectangular box and used the standard fragmentation of rock (8 J/cc).
The Correction: I corrected the geometry to an ellipsoid (which halves the volume, avoiding any overestimation) but applied the correct Violent Fragmentation for urban concrete/paving (120 J/cc), as the impact occurs on city streets, not a natural rock formation. This results in a much safer, mathematically sound yield.
Scaling: Upgrades Bogeyman and Wheelman to higher-end 9-A. Murphy Pendleton and Downpour monsters would scale as "At least 9-C, possibly 9-A" as discussed in previous threads.
4. Valtiel Bursts Through the Floor (Silent Hill 3)
Old Calc: 0.66 Megajoules (Wall level)
New Calc: 7.84 Megajoules (Small Building level)
The Flaw in the Old Calc: Assumed the heavy industrial grating was 3.5 cm thick via pixel scaling (Foreshortening fallacy) and used standard fragmentation (20 J/cc).
The Correction: Valtiel violently twists, tears, and bursts through the heavy iron. This qualifies for the Violent Fragmentation of Iron standard (208 J/cc). I used the 2-inch (5.08 cm) thickness standard for heavy industrial floor plates and properly subtracted the area of the pre-existing hole using elliptical formulas to be absolutely conservative.
Scaling: Upgrades Valtiel to 9-A.
SH3 God/Claudia/Heather: 8-C (Building level)
SH4 Henry/Main Cast: 9-A (Small Building level)
Valtiel: 9-A (Small Building level)
Downpour Bosses: High 9-A (Small Building level)
I have made sure to use highly conservative approaches (ellipsoids over boxes, subtracting pre-existing holes, adhering to building codes) to ensure these numbers are airtight.
I’d love to hear input from the Calc Group or staff members. Thank you for your time!

Here are the specific moments I want to highlight and how they scale now:

Conclusions
Overall, I am proposing an upgrade for the high-tier and specific mid-tier cast of the SH universe based on properly applying VSBW architectural and fragmentation standards.SH3 God/Claudia/Heather: 8-C (Building level)
SH4 Henry/Main Cast: 9-A (Small Building level)
Valtiel: 9-A (Small Building level)
Downpour Bosses: High 9-A (Small Building level)
