Shockwaves = Supersonic?

If a character were to take off running and flying and generate a powerful shockwave, would be considered Supersonic, with sonic booms and everything, or just any ol' shockwave?

For example:

• Keyaru creates a large "BOOM" when he blasts off into the air
• Kid Cosmic generates a shockwave that knocks away all of his equipment when he first takes off

If it states the break the sound barrier and moving fast enough to cause Sonic Booms yeah. But I recall not all shockwaves are caused by sonic booms; at it can just be the name of a chemical reaction of some sort.

Shockwaves are always used as a method of displaying impact, not necessarily an indication of any speed at all.

For it to count as a display of speed, it must be described as a shockwave first. Because most descriptions of shockwaves states it is due to breaking the sound barrier. Much better if they're outright described to exceed the speed of sound.

There are plenty of manhwas out there about delinquent fights and their punches make shock wave cones used to indicate supersonic speeds but they are all just special effects.
