Rocket has a weapon called the hadron enforcer, this is a quote, "that's for if things get really hardcore, or if you want to blow up moons", you could use the arguement it hits ronan and his cannon, but what it actually does it destroy target based on the mass, that's why rocket said that shooting the elector, yondu's ship, would destroy both the elector and rocket's ship due to the blast radius. another arguement is, "why didn't it cover ronan fully" that's because the hadron particles couldn't travel through his body. This feat could be due to the armor, most of the damage was taken by the power stone upgraded armor, but ronan wasn't as damaged as much as the armor, even though the gun went right through, or it could be both of these.
