Question.

SCP in the SCP foundation stands for “Secure Contain Protect”.
An SCP refers to anomalies: objects or beings that are supernatural, strangely evolved, or otherwise differ enough from what we understand as “normal reality” that people might notice. They’re numbered, contained, and analyzed by the foundation to protect people and avoid exposing the fact that the supernatural exists to the world.
Since the classification is partially based on understanding, they don’t necessarily have to be supernatural. For instance, it’s often thrown around that radiation would have been considered an SCP until it was scientifically understood, and there’s a joke SCP document about how an early Neolithic equivalent of the foundation would have considered fire as an SCP until they figured out how to produce and use it.
