Question about the strength with Qi/Chi/Ki.

So uh... I have noticed that on Dragon Ball, they burst beyond their physical limitations with their life force without the use of transformations, and I actually wondered to myself, "how strong are they with their fighting energy compared to normal?" Somewhere outside of this wikia, someone told me that with qi gives him the strength of ten men. Do you guys find that true? Or is it something else?
