Question about Crossover Profiles

I heard that in order to make a crossover character profile, it has to explicitly stated to be a different character from the original source material, and contribute to this new material (story wise), and must have different “characterization”... My question is, why?

Most characters don’t act differently just because they’re in a new setting, it would break the character. I’m just not understanding why a needlessly tight rule is there.

I ask, because I am, admittedly, going to make a Sonic (Shin Megami Tensei) profile, as he has his own self-contained story that doesn’t conflict with the main story (and thus cause scaling problems), and possesses skills and abilities he didn’t have in his original state. Similarly, I plan to revive Nero (Shin Megami Tensei) as well, for the same reason.

I think it's to prevent just having the exact same character with different stats.

We have several other profiles for the same characters except in a gacha game or other media. Obviously not intending to throw any franchise under the bus, but a few examples come to mind.

If I had to be honest, I do wonder if it’s just that mods don’t want a ton of OP crossover versions of characters because they leech off of others feats and abilities, which I guess can be annoying but it’s not exactly, y’know, wrong to add as a indexing site, specially since we have so many profiles for other franchises

No, I just can’t say if the revisions will even be accepted. The person he scales to doesn’t even have a profile.

So, uhm. Now that Part I & II is complete, and any potential downgrades have been warded off (fow now), expect the arrival of Sonic (Shin Megami Tensei), and the revival of Nero (Shin Megami Tensei), and the newborn V (Shin Megami Tensei).

By technicality, it’s because of Sonic that MT is 1-A.

During Sonic’s escapade to Low 1-C (and one of the only to succeed), and one of the MT support members got the idea to make yet another upgrade (after we just got Low 1-C) to 1-C. From there, we got Ultima’s attention from the character Yog-Sothoth, and his title “the all-in-one and one-in-all who’s limitless in self”, which rekindled his interest in the series.

7 or more months later of work… 1-A. So uh, thank (or blame) Sonic, lol.

Worst part is, Sonic isn’t even a low tier Demon (still undecided if we’re giving him Demon Phys). He scales above Hell Biker, and his casual Sonic Booms knocked him off his Bike. Thing is, Hell Biker is Low 1-C. Pretty good for a crossover.
So MT Sonic is literally a speed demon of chaos? Quite fitting tbh.

Ultima says Hell Biker would only be Low 2-C scaling off Matador.
