Question About Citations

If a character gains access to a technique in one game, and their profile has a scan of them using it in the sequel, would it be more appropriate to cite the source as the first game (the origin of the technique) or the second game (the origin of the scan being used)?

I think it´s better you cite the second game as the source, since the scan originates from it

I'd say the game that's being shown used in as to avoid confusion.

You should cite the first game when explaining that they have the technique (as that's when they got it) but if your showcasing them using it (the scan) and they only used it in the second game, you cite the second game so people know where to look to see when the move used for themselves. Otherwise it would get confusing because they'd checkout the first game but find no visuals of the move being used, just mentioned.
