Profiles for characters from Abrahamic religions

Are we or are we not allowed to create profiles for characters from religions such as Christianity, Judaism, and Islam? Like say, are we allowed to create a profile for someone such as Sampson or even flat out God? Too controversial? Too many sources that can potentially contradict each other?
