Professional Wrestling General Discussion Thread

As a certified WWE non-watcher and Punk hater, Punk should probably retain and move on from the Vision and Seth Rollins entirely. The little of the product I've seen indicates that The Vision is the drizzling ***** whose sole purpose is to elevate Bron Breakker, and as predictable as it is, putting Punk in the Sethhole for the nth time is boring.

Punk is hot and should be facing new challengers.

The Vision is ass and Theory is the only reason why I'm interested

Worlds End might be the sleeper Number 2 or 3 best AEW PPV of the year with the best CC to date and the world title scene being held to a higher regard compared to the previous two WE events.

The Vision had potential when it was likely to be a form of retread of Evolution, with the goal of Seth helping Bron get over. But the current scene didn't really lend to that possibility and so now The Vision is just an assortment of talents being managed by Heyman, basically.

I didn't even like The Vision when Seth was there lol

2025 was perfect year for Meltzer
  • Said months ago WWE is planning a retirement tournament for Cena (correct)
  • Said Gunther will win that tournament (correct)
  • Said Austin Theory will be in the vision (correct)
  • Said This one is HILARIOUS! Meltzer said all the way back in December 2024 that The Rock will not be able to do WrestleMania 42. The Rock himself replied on social media saying rumors are BULLSHIT but....when we reached April 2025 The Rock was no where to be seen. (also turned out to be correct)
Only thing which he said "kinda" did not took place was Seth Rollins competing inside the War Games with The Vision (and that's cause Rollins was injured)
Other than dat, SLAM DUNK year for good old Uncle Dave.

It's always funny when The Rock and Paul Heyman refute and call out Meltzer on his "bullshit" about scoops that they themselves provided to Meltzer.
Might be iffy with that last news (and it might be the bald fraud who told Dave) but the Austin Theory news 100% came from Heyman.

"I am not intense. I am intensity"

Ijla Dragunov lives up to his name in every sense! Dragunov vs JD Mcdonnah was one of my favorite matches of the year.
JD is super underrated as well always has been since his NXT UK days,
If there's one guy i want in main event title picture to battle people like Drew, Cody, Seth that would be Dragunov 🔥

Someone should force Austin Theory to watch HBK's Japan tapes so he can pick a better finisher for himself.

He had two great finishers previously.

I'm not a fan of his current A-Town Down finisher (though he's currently doing Seth Rollins' Curb Stomp for obvious reasons)

The Ataxia is good but something he can't do on everyone.
As good as the Ataxia is, it gives off "Mid card wrestler" vibes, and let's be fr he shouldn't be hitting moves like that on people like Randy Orton lol (though he has hit it on big people before)

If they allow him, Theory can do the Small Package Driver since he's already copying a move from Seth.
Nah that Small Package Driver does not fit Theory at all lol

Just make him use his ATL finisher. Yeah every wrestler seems to use a cutter nowadays, but this one is at least unique because it shows off Theory's strength (he's hit the move on big men on quite a few occasions)

Both the Ataxia and the ATL are finishers better suited for larger wrestlers. Although the ATL is the better finisher Theory used in his career, it has the same oomph as SANADA's own TKO. I think as cool as the move is, the ATL is still kinda midcard.

I see your point on Ataxia, but I think Theory would do just fine using the ATL.

Imagine him hitting that move on bigger wrestlers like Bronson Reed or Oba Femi🔥

Wrestle Kingdom 20 was in some ways an improvement from WK19 and featured what is one of the best retirement shows and retirement matches in all of pro-wrestling history.

Hiroshi Tanahashi going out on his back after a banger of a match against one of his greatest rivals, Kazuchika Okada, who owes his career as a main eventer to the Ace-Rainmaker feud during the early to mid 2010s. Then having a warm send-off with his career rivals, students, and mentor figures such as Omega, Ibushi, Ospreay, White, Mutoh, Fujinami, Shibata, and Naito. Then going out to into the light of the fog in a final "Aishitemasu!!" to the crowd.

The only thing missing from that retirement was Nakamura, but unfortunate wrestling politics prevented it from happening.

posting this here just in case anyone here is interested

It probably won't be of much use, but I wanted to know if this was calculated at some point?

Realistically, everything is at best evidence of the current tiers (and we already have enough of that) but meh

The only thing that might be worth looking into is the feat of Strowman ripping that steel cage with his bare hands
