I'm new to calcs. How would one measure by pixels the distance between one celestial body to space?

I'm currently working on this feat, but I'm not sure where to start.

I've had an easy time with GIMP. Generally, you're gonna wanna use the Pixel brush at exactly 1 pixel wide. If you want precise horizontal and vertical measurements, however, you can use the Rectangle Select Tool instead. This especially works on things that are too tiny to be measured with a pixel line.
