As Trunks waits for the time machine to finish refueling before the cell games, bulma accidentally activates it invertedly, sending trunks back in time where he encounters piccolo and the other z fighters, who does not recognize him, but can sense his strong ki and knows he is not evil. Explaining what has happened, Piccolo decides to test trunks out first

Interesting, i made a similar match recently

I vote Piccolo, he's certainly more skilled than Trunks and Hellzone Grenade should give him the win. Trunks does have RPL and Rage Power but Piccolo is aware of that so he will try to finish the fight quickly before that becomes a major issue.

You're right but he still has the Masenkō and the Demon Explosive Wave, as well as other techniques inherited from his father. He also has Gigantification, can stretch his limbs and heal his own damage.
